I think it is Red Lazy cc Detour 2W 1352939. His epds look middle of the road except direct calving ease looks good. Marbling horrible. Anybody have thoughts on this bull? I have a son that is 3 years old.

The few I've had , they've came easy out of first calf xbred hfrs. They've been very vigorous at birth and had good growth to adulthood. I would fault them as being a little shallow bodied and harder doing than their mothers. I'm only a small sample however but all these traits were present.

I think the best two things about Detour are his CE and calf vigor as stated above. We ran a Detour x Webr MS Dolly 2S bull on our virgins heifers this year and have a full sib to him that we will either sell or run with this year's virgin heifers. We ran a Six Mile Winchester x Webr MS Dolly 2S for clean up on a group of cows this year which we did use on heifers when he was a yearling and that was not a good spring calving out the heifers, but I did breed the cow back to Winchester this season and would be happy to see another bull calf this spring.

I had two or three out of commercial red angus heifers. He served the live calf purpose, but they didn't grow out very well. Hard to know if it was him or them on first calves though. I went with Redemption Y1334 for the few red angus heifers I had this time around.
