Had one of my really nice show heifer calves rip out the ear tag a couple of days ago.  Should this be sewn together, or should I just not worry about it?

If it was not a show animal, I wouldn't have even worried with it, however since it is a show heifer I agree with Doc......sew it.

I have seen where ear tags have been ripped out of the ears of other animals many times before.

Will it work after 2 days? You may have to reopen it up and trim it off. Better ask a vet about the risks after two days healing already started. If she has big time potential ck it out, if she is county fair potential, I wouldn't do anything.JMO.

I'd leave it alone after two days.  No big deal.  Hair will probably hide it anyway unless you look hard.

what about frosted ears? Will that affect at a show?

Billy Zack Taylor showed a bull at Little Rock about 10 or 11 years ago. He had frostbitten ears from being born during an ice storm. Didn't affect his looks none at all. He still placed first or second in his class, and it was a PACE Show that year.
