Calving season has officially started for us, but sadly it did not go as planned. My favorite cow had twin heifer calves that for some reason didn't make it, but she did have them on her own and thankfully she's doing just fine. Still 9 head due right now (2 embryos were due on the 17th, and the others are all due tomorrow) so we just have to hope that things go smoothly from here.
How is everyone else's calving season going? (Give me some hope!)

Glad to hear your cow is going to be all right. Very sorry to learn you lost the calves.
I had a first calf heifer calve in a snowstorm on 2/5 and the 4508 calf froze. That was disappointing. Normally I calve on grass, but bought the heifer bred. She's fine. Wish I had done more to prepare.

Just got word that another one calved this afternoon and is prolapsing... not a great start  at least the calf is alright this time!

Well the prolapsing heifer made it through the night and is doing well, and my cow that lost her twins has readily adopted the daughter of the prolapse heifer, so things are looking up in those departments! My dad's last 2 AngusXHOL heifers both dropped their calves today, had ANOTHER set of twins, but luckily this time we at least got 1 (the male of a free martin pair) and both have good instincts. I'm getting a tad stir-crazy because all of mine (except 1 old cow) were due either the 17th or today, and only the cow with twins has calved. Should be an exciting week or two coming up!!

Had twin Stock Broker heifer calves three days ago.  Momma and babies doing great.  Had a Monopoly 4 heifer calf two days ago and a Simmental Uno Mas heifer yesterday and about 45 to go.  About 10 AI ones due on the 15th.  If we get through tomorrows rain we should be fine.
