Sim/Angus Steer Hair Growth

I bought a really nice steer this year,  but he didn't eat at all so you can see his ribs and every thing so I ended up using my backup steer ( Simmintal - Angus )I've got a cool barn and have been doing a daily hair routine on him and have started seeing some growth.... But will I ever be able to get a lot of hair on him?  (1 or 2 inches)

Depends on his genetics, but if you are getting some hair on him that is a good sign, their is areason people start 90 to 120 out from their fair to get hair, it takes that long.
