What bulls sire show calves and have great weaning EPDs. I have read the recent simi posts but would like more ideas. Also what bull do you use on Dream On heifers?

Macho, Mo Better, Trademark, and Ranch Hand are just a few of the bulls that come to mind to use on Dream On females.  I know there are plenty more.

A bull I'm watching is RC Club King.  I haven't seen enough calves to really know but when you plug him into that mating program, he blows the doors off for WW & YW on most cows.  He is also a calving ease bull.  I don't know what the phenotype is going to be, guessing they'll carry some extra leather in front for sure.    There is a set of heifers by him selling next weekend near me so I might go over & take a look.

We have used TNT Ever Ready this year and are awaiting the calves.  It looks like he will add performance and his EPD accuracies are fairly high.  I agree with Kanshow that Club King looks promising.  Kanshow,  can you PM me what your thoughts and opinions are of the heifers that are sired by him after you see them next weekend?

I'm not sure that Trademark will give you performance, but he may "pretty" them up.  Another bull to check out is Kappes Trailblazer.  We haven't used him, but have heard good reports and will likely try him next year.  Grandmaster is another bull that we may try if his EPD's hold together after a couple of calf crops.

WRS, I'll sure do that.  What are your thoughts on Grandmaster & Brigade?

I have been doing some more research and I am amazed how many of the bulls I like are Dream On sons. What happens when you line breed him?  My daughter has 2 Dream On grand daughters that we need a calving ease bull for.

Unless the heifers have Power Stroke in their immediate pedigree, I'd use Trademark.  He's calving ease and, from what I've seen and heard from several breeders, is the ticket on Dream On daughters and granddaughters for producing good quality offspring.  I'm not a big fan of linebreeding. I've seen a few programs where it has worked great, but it seems that more times than not you get an average or worse calf.

Grand Master on Dream On heifers

Thanks for the info, he is just what I am looking for. I am and never have been one to chase numbers but if we will be selling offspring I need to a least look at them. He has a great look to him, his progeny have a great look and I have put him on my favorites for later consideration. Thanks again for helping. Not sure I could have found him. Frostie

That might be one of the best Simmental bulls I've seen. He looks like he crosses extremely well too, even on Shorthorns (notorious for not crossing well with Simmy's).

Cow pictured above is 3/4 simmental if you look at Hilco's donor page.

Not sure if I'd go as far as calling him the best Simmy ever, but he's worth a look at least!
