The roan gene runs deep in the commercial herd and every now and then it jumps out in a weird way. I kinda like her! <rock>

Neat. Every one of Amos white calves has that same band across the back of the head. Sometimes I see the ears and think, hey this is not AMOS' calf! That wiley Galloway got to the cow! Then I see that band from ear to ear and apologize to him.

She's from a blue roan first calf heifer who got bred by a blue roan bull we kept back just to breed a couple head of heifers. There's some Witchdoctor, KF Double Take, and Steermaker back in the cow line that got blended with a round of 6I6 and EXT from the Angus side.
I just thought the head band was interesting and who knows how far back one would have to go to find a white animal in her pedigree.

I never saw a band that dark, or that went all the way to the eyes like yours.
The White Galloways haven't shown it. Like you said, it must be part of the roan extreme. Pretty calf. I'd like to see pictures of the dam and sire, if you have any time to mess around with it. Blue roans have eluded me, I always get a steely black. Maybe another shorthorn cross on that would get some color?
