i'm a northern hair guy and always think i'm looking at one of them hairless cats when i look at a slick steer
probablly my favorite slick steer i've seen for a while.. love the expression and perfect cover. and best part some good depth of body.. how is he bred? and what does he weigh? 1215?

Thanks for the comments.  Our show is tomorrow.  He's a hardcore.  Not sure of dam....she's an angus.  His weight is 1350. I'll update after the show.

Yeah, slicks tend to not be as deep looking..its the lack of hair. There are plenty of them that drag there bellies like the northern haired critters thats for sure! You do still see some harder ribbed cattle..not as much though.

Okay, show is over!  Small local show, total of eight steers.  My son placed third after two really good steers.  Dave Allen's son won grand.  Judge said close call between my son and reserve grand, we had issues with our steer getting stiff in the hocks,  and reserve was stiff in the front end.  It came down to the profile and the reserve's neck was tied in a littel higher and the judge said he thought it made him look a little nicer.  We knew we had problems with his hocks, so overall satisfied with the placing.  Thanks for everyone's comments......now we get ready for next year!!
