Updated Troubador Calf Photos

Just thought I'd give an update on how our Troubador calves are turning out.  Attached are two Troubador calves I've clipped.  A year from now I'll be able to tell you how they feed out.

The steer is out of a Bold Statement cow. 

The heifer is out of a Playmate/Meyer GD that was my son's first show heifer.  Needless to say he's not letting me sell her.

Neither of these calves were even on my radar for our best ones until they were a good 60 days old.  As I've posted before, I've never seen a group of calves some on more.

I've got a handful of other Troubador heifers that aren't far behind this one that we'd love to find homes for.  All are out of black, non-carrier cows.

They sure are stouter than I thought they would be.  How are the dispostions?

So far, so good - they didn't eat me alive trying to clip them.  I'll be able to answer better in a few weeks on attitude.  They get weaned on Saturday.

Thanks.  They really look good.  I will have a couple in August.  One bull calf after ultrasounding.

Really nice hiefer-any Charolais hiefer bulls out there? Gonna have a few shorts to breed 1st calves-thought about Char.-but dont know em like you would O0

That heifer is pretty nice. How old are they?

Nice set of calves, they sure should work, do you think  he will work on heifers .....Jamie

I bred a Yellowjacket heifer to him this fall.  The only bull other than Angus I used on any heifers.

I love that heifer Chambero.  From the ones,  I have seen the Troubador cattle had all the right pieces and like you said they keep getting better.  IMO, the best is yet to come when his daughters get into production.  Has anyone seen any in production yet?  Jamie do you have any in production?

For whatever reason, our heifer calves (out of any sire) always bloom quicker than steers.  Watching him develop, I really think the steer will turn into something diwn the road.

The oldest Troubador calves are only around 18 months or so.

Brandon Bird owns him and visits this site.  Im sure he could answer more questions.

I bet Mr. Bird has more than a few like that one.  Good looking calf.  

From what I've seen so far, I think these calves are going to have more depth of body and be a lot smoother than most Char-X calves.
