I am trying to decide how to breed this cow, Maternal or terminal, she is an Ali on top and a Theobold/Angus on the bottom. Her Heifer calf is 30 days old. The cow has her faults, breaks behind the shoulders, not exactly pretty, but she is a heck of a mother. Her steer calf last year did not break at the shoulder, and it is to early to tell if the heifer will.
I am open for suggestions, I have the option to turn her out with "Walks On Water" or AI her.

I would go maternal on her if she makes a growthy calf each year.
A good maternal female will stay around longer than the average clubby female.
She could still squeeze out a special female for the ring.

if she is pretty maternal and you are worried about what she might pass on to her offspring. Have you considered using her as an embryo recip? Good mommas's are hard to find.

According to history you got a good steer last year. Why would you not breed her back the same?

That steer was out a Dr Who son that is no longer around, I had her AI'd to My Turn but it did not stick, her heifer calf is out of a different Dr Who bull, same bull was hot on her heals last week end, not sure what the odds of her sticking 30 days after calving are. That was Sunday, Tuesday the January and February bull calves were following her everywhere.

The heifer calf she has right now is balanced with a little bone, and if she keeps it to gather, she will stay around, had to ship her 12 year old great grand mother this year, she came up open.

Seems like a no brainer to me.  You have the option of turning her out with a A.I. sire or take the time to A.I. her, I'd turn her out in a heartbeat if it were me.

I would AI her.  What do you have in the tank?  I like my Whizard calves quite a bit.    I have seen some awfully nice MAB about of Ali cows.

Do you have another option for a bull to turn her out with other than Walk on Water?
