Just wondering how many of you that have jobs in town are getting extra time off around the holidays this year. My shop is basicly shut down for the next two weeks. Hearing of a lot of other places locally that are down more days than normal around here. About 60% of our work is automotive related so that is the biggest reason although all business has been down for the last year. The company also permanantly laid off about 15 of the 90 or employee's in the last month.

School is out for a couple of weeks.  One advantage to working for the school and having cows, is that any day we have extreme weather, school is either cancelled or delayed.  The break is a good chance to give the cows their winter worming, vaccinations, etc.  It is also a good time to complete AI for fall calves.

I get off at noon on Christmas Eve, and we have Christmas day off. Back to work on Friday though. Then next week we have New Years Day off. I could take any days surrounding those, but I've got to make sure and keep my leave time for Denver.

My niece and nephews maintain the farm through the week while I am working in the "city". The weekends and days off I am at the farm. Our company is on shut down starting Christmas eve day til after the new year. Kind of nice. This is the one time of year I take a full vacation.

My husband works at a bank about 40 miles away.  Poor guy is run ragged.  This time change really kills him.  Never has enough daylight or time to get done what he wants.  I like to help, but I never read his mind correctly or do enough to help.  Wish he could just have more time to do what he loves.

I embroider for a living.  I'm sewing like a mad woman getting everyones Christmas requests done.

Between the ice, cold, and not enough daylight, I'm missing the joy of cattle farming right now.  At 9:00 last night I was chasing our bull Mucho thru the dark trying to catch him asking myself why?  Guess I've got the winter blahs....it'll surely get better :'(
