Dieter bred Chi-Angus Herd Sire For Sale

Exactly!! how cattle are made has way more to do with calving ease than BW does. A 90 pound square has a harder time getting out of the hole than the 120 pound oval.  I have an old Impulse cow that had a 155# NP calf unassited and was up and nursing in 20 min. And yes i am kind of guessing on...

    Simple Math

Just saw him for the 2nd time today. He is pretty cool. Looked better today then last week. Really good hip and quarter. When you first see him stand he looks kind of straight on the hind wheels, but on the move flexes really well. I was impressed with is big foot and soundness. Really long...

Dead cow. 45 day old calf is a stud. now what?

Last yr we weaned 30 hd at 60 days and got along great. We might do the whole herd that way this year. Cows breed back better. Our calves were all eating creep well when we weaned and we left them on a creep feeder for 30 days before we went to a bunk ration.

    How much longer till???

900 lbs hfrs in SD are bringing anywhere from 98 to 107. Steers have almost all been over 100, from what i have seen. In feb. you could buy bred hfrs for 1100 and now pairs are bringing 1700 from what I have heard. Seems like a quick return on investment. I have also heard speculation of $2...

    NLC Mr. Upgrade calves

We had 17. Bred him to every kind of cow we have.  He seems to be working alot like his daddy at our place. calves come small (except out of clubbies) made smooth with good hips and tops. They are better haired, fronted, and boned, but very comparable to our Olie's. Hopefully the hfrs make as...

    Timed AI vs. Heat Detection

We have been getting 65-73% on TAI with the cows. 5 yrs ago was the first time we used TAI. Before that we heat detected with a couple gomer bulls and would run 70-88%. We use TAI on our hfrs just because of the time factor, but like mentioned before, expect 50-60. We have went to only AIing the...

    Semen testing Clubby display bulls

A bull can still pass a basic semen test and have poor quality straws. Alot of times a bull won't freeze the first couple times simply because he needs flushed out. IMO the poor quality comes from lower standards of freezing. I like to use ABS because I feel that they have the highest standards...

    Running yearlings on grass

1000 lbs are bringing any where from $1 to $107. We normally hold over our light end and run on grass, but with 600 lbs bringing $125 or so we sold them. Who knows, but with the what the board is paying last time I checked, it might be even a stronger market in Aug. (like normal up here in SD...

    PB simmi bull by "Olie"

Hey thanks bulldaddy. We had great success with Olie. I think his females are going to be better. I know Christensens Olie females have worked very well for them. Olie does need a soggier made, bigger footed cow IMO to work the best.

we have built a whole bunch of those. Our first one is kind of like that one only made out of steel, but goes over the whole 4 barb wire fence. For the other 10 we built we took the old roller chains from case balers and then just welded like a half moon frame then attached the roller chain...

Wanted to buy: Open Recips Or Cow-Calf Pairs

Also, one thing to keep in mind is changing the environment of these cows. We bought 60 hd one year to put eggs in and didn't get them home until like 2 weeks before we implanted the eggs. Only got 20% of those to stick. Out of 120 of our own recips we got 77% that same yr. The next year those...
