Opinions on Heat Wave Bull Calf

Looks like a nice calf. Hard to bad mouth him from the pic.

    MAB son...

Like the pic of him, too. Is the Cigar in the bottom side of his (Red Rooster"s) pedigree the Maine or the Charolais bull? I really did not think MAB would compliment so many cows. But now I'm really impressed.

    MAB son...

Roger That, looks nice. Being a THC is the main difference on Roger That, but he goes back to the Miley cow on the bottom which I too like. It appears MAB is really working, especially on some good Maine genetics.

    MAB son...

Found this little guy by accident and thought he looked like a super functional bull prospect out of a High Definition cow. Personally like just about everything about him. Both PHAF and THF and registered Maintainer. Comes from Bushman Ranch in Utah. The Duke

What do you think about my new hiefer?

Super good looking with a really nice pedigree. She appears ready to show. Good luck and have fun. Make sure to give us an update on how everything went.

New info on DS from the ASA.

Since PHA is a Maine Anjou defect, are they responsible for contributing DS? If so, what is their association doing about it.

    kelpies

Instinct traits are highly heritable but these breeders made sure not to ignore all the other fundamental traits. Like the vet said, rarely any issues in this breed.

    Daddy's money calves???????????

I bet he will make show steers when used on HW genetics and also have good maternal value when bred to functional cows to make replacements.. Time will tell, though. I like his genetics with Wisdom and a pretty good Dr Who cow on the bottom.  Looking for his full brother to be promoted.

    My eyes have been opened!

I remember the days when a person could go into a commercial operation and often times find a good competitive show steer. There would only be one or two at best that would be worthy of being fed out and shown. The irony is, I think the percentage is still about the same with the breeders that...

    Daddy's money calves???????????

I think he is going to sire some very good cattle and as I said before he has a full brother that is just as good, several months younger,  standing reserve grand to his brother at NAILE. Sure would likle to see the calves out at Jones.

    Our Steel Force Bull

I'll have to agree with Mainevent. Very impressive, especially with that depth through his middle.

any RED Maine bulls to buy semen on?

Just Rite 501M was a Hartman bred red bull that was a known producer. He was a purebred and probably got used on a bunch of Shorthorns. There is some semen on him as well. Hartman may have semen or perhaps the other owners. You can find them by using a pedigree search on AMAA.

DCC red Man (old red maine) : Have Questions?

Could not find Red Bull but here is a bull Derouchey named DCC Code Red owned by Harkema's. He is a Hard Core son. http://www.deroucheycattle.com/06sale/images/Lot-5.jpg

    Hard Whiskey

This is just my opinion. Hard Whiskey is a very stylish and well put together Maine bull but not one of those well sprung and deep bulls you might invision. He has that good hair and was dressed up nicely when displayed at Denver. I personally think he would work best to pretty-up those deep...

From Cattle.com Nick Reimann passed away this weekend in a plane crash

My heart breaks with such a loss. These guys were some of the most talented breeders of good cattle. My condolences to the family and friends. They will be missed.

Charolais bulls on club calf cows to raise a smoke

A bunch of good ideas to select from. I too like Korky Wise's bull, Rapid Reward. He's a beast and should work well on the type cows you're talking about.

    Who made who steers?

At this point in time, I think he would be best used as a female maker and probably would not be competitive enough for the steer market. IMO, works best on ugly, sound, functional cows with good maternal. Cowpoke is correct about downsizing the big ones and adding pretty long fronts. He's...

    Full Blood Maine Weekly Update

This was my only concern when I saw his picture as a calf but the the video has taken all that doubt away. I really think he is an important bull. Another thing that I'm impressed with is how he resembles his sire.

    Full Blood Maine Weekly Update

This is why I thought Darco should have been exploited more. Think this guy could be a part of a good thing. Really like his over all dimension and how he moves so freely. He really absorbs the ground as he travels. I like him 100 times more then those Cunia's and I would bet the bank that he...

    WALK ALONE BLACK FALL CALF

Freddy - Looks really good with just the right amount of power, IMO. Also like how you always seem to not be afraid of showing us how your calves look. I feel you have delivered us a pretty accurate image of what this calf looks like. Appreciate your skills with a camera. Walks Alone seems to...
