    Stubborn Steer(s)

We have a few calves that are broke to lead, and lead well with someone behind them, but they are VERY stubborn when you try and lead them by yourself. Any suggestions???

Pictures: I swore I would never have sheep, The boys won!

My dad always hated sheep, but my mom and her parents used to raise them. So she finally won out and said, if we show calves, we are showing sheep. He actually has grown to like them some, and wants to get a few head for breeding, but we jsut dont have the room with the cows.  (clapping)

    Your ultimate cattle trip

I really don't know where I would go that is new, but i know where I would go BACK too. The Flint Hills of Kansas, and the Sand Hills of Nebraska. Those 2 places are the most beautiful places i have ever seen. We drove by Burns, Kansas on our way back from Oklahoma. That would be where I would...

    Highlander??

I have talked to people that have seen him in person. They say he is all hair. From what i see of highlanders (a family shows them at our county fair) they are small framed (calving ease) but, you get that hair off, and they are UGLY, no thickness, just a bunch of hair. IMHO I think Highlander...

I highly doubt he is still alive, but I really dont know. Its hard to tell. If he is, though, he is probably finished producing semen. (Why they made cloans ;))

    is BR midland worth it

    is BR midland worth it

Exactly, when you think about it, it pays off. Because even if its a feeder, you get money back lol. If you have a smaller herd, you could possibly look at ALL AI, just calculate the price of a bull, compared to how much money you would put into semen each you. Thats something to think about  :-\

    is BR midland worth it

I really like Midland. If you are looking for GREAT females, out of first calf heifers, look at Morgan's Direction. We have some of our best cows and heifers out of him, In Focus, and Rito 6I6 and 1I2. We AI our heifers every year, and those 4 sires have given us some amazing calves.

    Cattle as a business

We have around 100 cows that dad started building up after college. We only own on 100 acre pasture, and the rest we rent. We have lost a few pastures to farm land, but we have been looking out west for some more. He had a hard time getting going, but right now it is great. I don't know if we...

    Fly Spray

What does everyone use for fly spray on their calves? We used to use a liquid from the vet store that you mix with water in a spray bottle. We just recently tried using an aresol fogger spray. It works GREAT. I was just wonderin what you guys used.

    EZ All

Yep, that Ivory stuff is great, you can get it an your local Walley World  ;D. BUT, you have to make sure you get ALL of it out. If you dont, it will dry the skin out pretty bad and you'll have dandruff problems.

    EZ All

Well, i just went out and tried it. We use Ivory soap for our daily washing, so i tried that. It worked great, but you have to put like an inch or two of soap in the canister, then fill the rest up with water and shake it up. It worked great, when i rinsed the dirt just ran off of them.

Ok, well the guy told us you can use a lot of different kinds. We were going to plan on using the Sullivan Shampoo. That is the soap we have used for a long time, and have been happy with it. He said you could put car wash soap in it as long as you rinse it out good before using it on calves.  ???

    EZ All

What kind of soap do you/ can you use in it. It says you can use it to wash vehicles, animals, trailers, etc. So i assume you can use a bunch of different soap. Thanks, TCR
