    Heatwave or Clone

One year we used Wave on Wave and the calves came huge, the next year our heifers could have had them and this year the consistency was even worse.  It would be different if we didn't run 250 cows and they were in a lot and not out on psture 24/7, we were  just talking today and think this is...

    Looking for a little comfort.....

With 200 head to calve have them palpated is not an option.  We have 2 calf pullers and don't hesitate a bit to have a c-section done.  we have palpated before on ones we questioned being ai'd and have been wrong so we let nature take its course.

Difference in bovine and equine semen

A studs semen isn't as high in sperm count there for it takes alot bigger quantity to inseminate a mare.  We have done several mares and it is more time consuming and expensive to do than cattle.  you now can used frozen semen, however not all studs work especially if they are older.

    Calving Reports

We used jigsaw and were really pleased, all will be marketable calves only had one heifer, she is a little more shallow than we would like, but that cow can do that she is OK, just would like to she her a tad dipper, the steers look real good one is exceptional, and they were out of just cows...

    jakes proud jazz-30,000 pounds

In our neck of the woods Kit's ideas are far from a workable solution, with farm ground renting 80 an acre there isn't a lot of excess pasture, and send a 800-900 pound bull out in the river hills and see what happens.  As far from shorties not producing in the feed yard I beg to differ, we...

    phosphorus

I wiork for an animal health and feed outlet, when we heard that phos was going up we contacted our producers and ordered what they thought they wanted and then some.  since then KayDee mineral has went up 240 a ton.  We can still get mineral and have it custom made.

What is a safe delivery date

We use guardian as a scour shot, then at birth any calf out of a heifer or one that goes through the barn gets a c&d antitoxin and every thing gets alpha cd.  We brand and cut mid May then give the shot and since we have started this our loss due to overeating has been cut to almost nothing.

    Charolais and Shorthorn

We had only heifers last year and we kept them all for replacements.  I think they will do well in the feed yard if they don't make a show calf.  Hair is not in abundance unless bred to a hairy one.

    Shothorn breeding advice

First off I would look at breeding her to a real low BW angus for the first year and we have found Final Answer to be a true calve ease and growth, you will have a live calf and then can think about what to breed her to.  We have had great luck with Gizmo, however you can get a big one every now...

Bulls that would clean up a udder????

We have several Gizmo daughters in production and they all have great udders.  We have flushed our poke daughter 2 times to him and the steers averaged over 4000, I only sold one heifer. Got a little selfish and kept the rest.  I am waiting for 4 more embroys right now out of that cross.  One...
