    Bad Weather

I sold all of the 4 wheelers almost two years ago and went back to the horses. Much easier to work cattle on. The down side is like last week when it rains day after day. I spent 6 hours a day on a horse in the rain, didn't melt but I felt like I might have started to get runny!    RW Horses...

    Bad Weather

I only use Mohair.  Nylon and neoprene sore horses too easily.  Especially if you spend much time in a saddle.  I have 3 cinches and keep em in a rotation this time of year, like RW.  If you're horse isn't good withered and you're saddle moves around on you when getting on, or roping, you'll...

    Bad Weather

Definately thinking of you!! We've had a lot of rain, the grounds extremely saturated, and my cows are sick of mud.  Only supposed to be 43 degrees tomorrow with rain and 30 mph winds.  I'm not impressed with mother natures sense of humor. Hope all is well!

    Last Calf! YEA!

Congrats on your last calf!! (clapping) Always a great feeling! I'm pretty proud and I've gotta brag a little  :) We started calving March 2nd. By March 31st we had 427 out of 516 calves on the ground.  We are down to about 30 calves now, and with all this rain and mud, I don't mind that...

    Angus

I manage a ranch that has a small reg. angus herd.  But we also run 500 hd of commercial mama cows.  I personally have a handful of reg. hereford cows, for those baldies we all love.  We used TC Rito 416 and Circle S At Ease 4221 on our commercial heifers.  Our two main AI sires on our...

    First Calf Heifer tales

Had a now 2nd calf heifer that lost her 1st calf last year during a bad snow storm, so I decided to give her another chance.  About a month ago, I had two cows mothering a newborn calf.  I decided that 546 had not calved and ran her off the calf.  She was beating the tar out of the real mother. ...

    Opinions on our new bulls

Hello, Buying bulls can be very rewarding and trying at the same time.  My first year as the manager of a ranch, we had to come up with 13 hd of bulls.  Some worked and some didn't.  I was really disappointed in a lot of bulls that we looked at.  But we saw some really good ones too.  We...
