    Polled Hereford bull calves

What's on the bottom side of the calves?  Especially your new bull.  Pics are a little hard to tell what the front ends look like on the two bulls but I can appreciate their muscle pattern.  I would sure like to get behind the calves and see them, and they look like they could be little cleaner...

    1680

Amen Cattledog, Amen.  There have been a couple decent GAR bulls, but I am NOT a fan.  I too agree, flat muscled, narrow topped, fine boned, and no performance if you don't feed them like feedlot cattle.  I'm sure that I'll hear about this, but that's my opinion.  There have been some good 1680...

Lookout cowboy -the weather is a changing

Well all, guess we're sending it your way.  It snowed here last night (Central Colorado at 9,200 ft)  and we didn't break 25 degrees today, but about 10 degree wind chill.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be 50 degrees....  And I thought Kansas weather was bad....

    King Killer Kitty strikes again!

Red, I think I have Killer Kitty's sister.  She is little, but very evil!!!  I left my laptop open and came back to her sitting on it and a totally frozen screen!  Besides her evil nightime games....  Glad to see you're back.  Hope for better days to come!

    cystic heifer

I've never popped the cyst, but have given cystorelin and have not had  a problem since.  Talk with your vet, there may be an underlying problem.

    Any Opinions on this Heifer?

I think she looks like a Traveler with a touch more thickness and style.  She is broody and feminine.  I think her only strike against her is that she's a heatwave.  I personally am a fan of a little smaller framed cattle.  Here in the high mountain desert, it doesn't work to have big cattle...

    Just Had My First Calf

He's got a really nice mama!  I had about 40 calves born out of two half brother charolais bulls and solid black cows.  Of those, I got an assortmant of colors.  I got about 10 colored the way your calf is grey with a white tail and sometimes white bellies and legs.  Also, I got some that were...

Bulls that sired the "meanest" calves

I've had some mean EXT's but I've also had some pretty good tempered ones.  I have to say that the meanest I have been around were JLB Exacto's. Lucy's Boy is a close second though.  I've also had some New Design 1407 that were flat nuts.

Reminder to Avoid Pi** Poor Management During Calving

Chambero, don't beat yourself up too badly.  We all make mistakes.  A year ago, I had an older cow that didn't seem right to me.  Bagged up, coming up to eat, but looked a little in discomfort.  I kept an eye on her but after 2 days of her just not looking quite right, I drove her to the pens...

Bulls that looked Good, but never turned em out

I absolutely loved Remitall cattle.  I flushed to Online right after he won Denver the first time, because I thought his mother was a heck of a cow.  As well I was always a fan on Embracer.  I sure hated to see them disperse!!!  I also liked Boomer 29F.  Thought his daughters were pretty special.

Bulls that looked Good, but never turned em out

I knew several breeders who used him, and one particular breeder was pretty burnt out after he pulled 3 160lb plus calves.  One killed a cow....  They definately had a look, but they never were worth a darn for anything.

Bulls that looked Good, but never turned em out

Aj, I know of two ET sisters born a day apart that were shown as calves by a custom fitter.  One heifer cleaned house every where she went.  She was undefeated in class, etc. etc. etc.  Her sister never stood above 6th in class.  When it came time to calve, the show winner starved her calf.  Her...

    Can't Win for Losing!

Gosh that's frustrating.  We had a neighbor do that once as well, but he never succeeded in getting his cattle out.  He did manage to run his cows are ours through two fences!  Ruined one bull.....  Needless to say, he paid what the bull was worth and the cow that tore her udder up on a fence. ...

Cost associated with Flushing a cow

Jill, Cross Country Genetics is a great place.  I used to work for a cooperator herd that they put a lot of embryos in and they've put quite a few in for me.  They truly are great people and very professional!
