    EMERGENCY!!! Whats going on?????

My heifer was bred on Dec.30th and I was told two months ago by the Vet assistant that she should be due on the 10th of this month. Last week she started having mucus stuff coming out.  Yesterday morning she had a little blood in it.  Also this morning.  I called the vet this morning and the...

charge for breaking, feeding and clipping calves

That sounds way cheap to me.  Just to halter break a calf I would think its at least worth 200.00 dollars...rough clipping 25.00 a head finished clipping 75.00. Depending on how big the calf is at three percent of body wieght if the calf weighs 500 pounds it would eat 15 pounds of grain a day...

    Zicam- Does it work?

To cure the common cold put on some warm jammies, get some hot tea, and lay in bed with your remote control...turn the TV to QVC and charge up  a little over a grand on your credit card.  My sister swears by this!  I have to use the Zicam, because its way cheaper....and it seems to work for us here.

    First calf heifer worries.

We have a heifer that I bred to Wells Fargo and she is due on October 10th.  She was fat when she bred, and the vet told me to cut her feed so that we would have less problems with calving.  Here is the deal...my son and I are going to State Fair in Dallas from Sept 30th- Oct. 4th.  I know that...

    ultrasounding cows

I know how dissapointed you are...I was too.    Looks like its time to go on in there. ;D  Our vet came out and palpated our heifer...he is soooo good he told us we were having twins, what color they were and what the sex was of each of them.  He even told us their names.  Now if I didnt get...

    Ag class

Wow when I was in High School, most kids took ag JUST to have a blow off class.  Our teacher had been there forever, and he was a little on the "relaxed" side. We spent more time at the ag farm NOT doing ag stuff.  I didnt even know there were so many jackpots and stock shows....bumer for me...

    CRAZY TEXAS!

The gun thing is scary.  As for the truck thing I guess those upscale yuppies havent priced a good truck lately....would put some of those crappy sports cars to shame, Those kinds of people arent Texas bred they migrated here from whom knows where.

    dating

Were in America, where a guy can even use his kids to hit on women.  Its a sad deal when a country doesnt let the people decide for themselves...but nonetheless when we start sticking our noses where it doesnt belong and trying to instill our western culture on these people it causes problems...

    Heifer wanted

Need a nice little heifer that will weigh at least 600 lbs by January 09.  She will be a show heifer and then used for breeding. Breed doesnt really matter.  We are in West Texas...the closer the better. Thanks

    Hereford heifer...big baby

Well, I am not sure but she could have some mixed background.  We purchased her to be a feed buddy for a show steer.  She got way fat and I was lucky she even bred.  I picked her out because she seemed to have good bone and depth with some length to her.  I agree that she is very fleshy in the...

Thinking about Showing Steers in a Few Years!

We are from Texas so I dont know what age your steers need to be.  Your FFA advisor or County Ext. Agent can help with that, also with locating a great steer.  Last year was our first steer year after 10 doing hogs and sheep and goats.  I must say we really like the steer deal, especially if you...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

I would like to thank all whom contributed to my question, either down the road or in the bar-ditch.  Geez I would have never thought it would have gotten so out there.  First of all I am the mother of a 15 year old whom shows calves and we try to do everything WE  can to help each other out, he...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

We have a Heatwave steer that is having major issues being a show steer.  Anything sets him off, he kicks and just generally acts like he doesnt want to be a show steer.  He doesnt accept any TLC and just plain snorts at us.  He leads great and will set up, he will not stand if anyone gets near...

    A REAL KICKER....CALF

Lets see.....if its not one thing its another.  We now have a calf that kicks.  What can I do? He kicks at everything and its not one of those little warning kicks...its a hard get away from me kick.

    water and more water

Funnel some of it our way.  We have had 1/4 inch since the 1st of the year!.  With high winds and 102 above we have nothing but blow sand, and grass fires.  Our farmers are hurting, since cotton that was up has wind damage and the watermelon transplants cant be planted unitl the winds stop.
