I don't know about anywhere else, but in Kansas they show in 2 seperate classes, a dehorned Hereford can't show in the Polled Hereford class, you might check on the shows you are planning to show her at.

I didn't think you could enter a horned Hereford into the Polled Hereford Association, you may have paper problems on your heifer, they are 2 seperate record books from what I understand.

The steer we are showing this year was a bucket calf, the trick is to feed him multiple times a day (we fed 4 bottles a day) and as soon as you can find a cow that will take the calf, we have weaned at 90 days and been fine, but not quite that early.

Using the scour guard before calving in the right time frame should be the only protection you need, we have never had one get scours that mom had the scour guard in the correct time frame, if it wasn't done in the correct window that's a different deal, you shouldn't have to redo the calf at...

I guess just to add 1 thing, in some of these bid off deals you need to check the terms, I know like in Brad Hooks calf sale it states right in the terms that there is no breeding guarantee on the heifers, so you might check what your terms were first.
