    Stampede champion steer disqualified

Remember we are talking about a show in Canada, correct?  I'm guessing rules aren't the same as here.  If the one line that was quoted in the article about not using any substance that changes weight or conformation, I don't see where that's a rule against Banamine at all.  Is there a rule...

    Stampede champion steer disqualified

According to the Stampede list of exhibitor rules: “Any products/solutions/liquids administered internally to alter the conformation or weight of the animal is prohibited.” If that's the rule I don't see where they can disqualify the calf.  Banamine doesn't alter conformation or weight.  This...

    Preferred Head Chute?

Would like to ask again if anyone can enlighten me on problems that brisket bars might cause?  Thanks!

    Heat Detection

Agree!  Gomer bull would definitely get my vote for most accurate.  I use the heat patches but you still need to put your time in watching.  My biggest complaint with the patches is brush and swishing tails will rub off quite a bit of them after a little while.  And there's the occasional one...

    I need ideas.

Charguy, that's awesome.  My husband worked for M&M Charolais for over 25 years and we bought many heifers from them over the years and had a nice little herd of registered Charolais at one time.  Now quite a few of our cows are high % Charolais, but we don't keep up with the purebreds and just...

    Preferred Head Chute?

I am indeed jealous!!  Congrats to you though!!  (clapping)  What kind of problems do brisket bars cause?  I need to find out before I get mine  ;) so I can decide with or without.

    Preferred Head Chute?

ejoe, are you just going to look at a Stampede or are you buying?  I'm so jealous!  I've never had a chute with a brisket bar, but I know every time a cow tries to choke down in our WW I wish we had one.  The WW is a sturdy chute, but my complaints are that it will choke a cow, the drop down...

    Preferred Head Chute?

Stampede Steel is my dream chute.  I fell in love with it the first time I saw it and I couldn't see one thing I'd change about it.  Very reasonably priced last time I checked.  Hope to someday own the chute, palpation cage and S curve alley.  Check it out :  Stampede Steel Promo Video

    I need ideas.

DLD,  I bred 2 black maine cows to Carpe Diem.  I got that red and white steer and a solid red heifer.  And no, I haven't bred her back to Carpe Diem, she has an angus heifer now and I kept her open to flush.  Carpe Diem would definately be on my list of bulls I'd like to flush her to.

    I need ideas.

Cattle Cards, yes, the calf is a Carpe Diem out of a black Maine Cow.  Like I said, my attempt at a black baldy heifer.  Better luck next time.  :) DLD,  I think I like the splitting the embryos 50/50 the best.  I don't want to go through the whole process of waiting for calves and then picking...

    I need ideas.

All good ideas, thanks everyone.  Thanks Cattle Cards for the compliment on the calf, but he was a steer. :)  I was shooting for a black baldy heifer, but I had to settle for him, I wasn't too unhappy.  He was Res.Grand Steer at the Big E.  Little okie steer did pretty good back east.

    I need ideas.

Thanks for your input!    2 of the cows are proven, having raised calves that have won shows.  The calf in my avatar is from one of these cows.  The reason I need to flush them now is they are getting up there in years.  I've only kept one heifer (the 3rd one I want to flush) out of these 2...

    I need ideas.

I have 3 cows I want to flush... a lot.  My problem is I don't have the cash to do that much flushing, and due to the drought we've had for the last several years, I don't have many cows left for recips.  I don't just want to sell all the embryos, I want to start rebuilding my herd with calves...

PB Charolais- What to flush this cow to?

I love how Eye Candy works on my high % Charolais cows.  He puts loads of bone and hair on them and my favorite thing is I haven't had any throw away calves.  No mouth, soundness, or any other problems with him.  I'm actually excited about raising club calves again.

    Weaning calves early?

Just curious... around here, bucket calf classes are for calves raised on bottles or buckets, not by their moms.  Are we behind the times?  lol

Online Auctions - "The Fine Print"

Tallcool... I think that is awesome!  Congrats for being the kind of person that breeders want to own their cattle.  But my guess is Joe Blow would be furious and accuse you and the seller of being unethical.  So my take is on this subject is.. selling cattle is alot like showing cattle, not...

Online Auctions - "The Fine Print"

I'd like to use my 150th post to say thanks to ZNT for explaining how a SP auction works.  I assumed all online auctions collected the money etc..  I learn something new everyday!  (thank goodness)    Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend!!  <beer>

Online Auctions - "The Fine Print"

Tallcool, how do the sellers know who is bidding on their calves?  The cattle auctions I've watched only identify the bidders by a number, so unless I'm privy to the auction companies information, I have no way of knowing who is bidding.  Am I wrong?  The auction company has to be able to...

Jason it sounds like you are being more than fair.  I personally think $25 is probably not enough to deal with all you'll be dealing with putting this on.  I admire you greatly for starting this website as a free site, and even more having it remain that way.  Most people start off free until...
