Same question, different size.  I am watching a calf out in the pasture right now, and she seems to be struggling a bit.  She's probably about 7 days old.  Let nature just take its course? or should I give her something?

Because of that I would go with Dream On.  His calving ease is just too great.  He might throw an occasional big one, but they come unbelievably easy.  I just had a first calf heifer lay down and put a 96 pound Dream On calf on the ground without even a bit of problem.  You should get three live...

I think Top Sires Simmental line-up is a very solid line-up for clubby type genetics. It includes Maximus, Picasso, Salution, just about any Meyer son. Percentage wise, there were some really good ones out of SOS this past year.  Some more unkonwn ones that look to have a lot of potential are...

He is complete hit and miss.  70+ pounders and whoppers.  I know of one they cut out of donor recipient due to size.  All you need to know is, he went from being marketed as a heifer bull, to not being marketed as one after one breeding season.

He's a maternal brother to Trademark.  He is out of a legendary Black Irish cow in the Simmental breed.  He makes really nice correct showy females.  Calves tend to come slightly smaller.  He is heterozygous black, and will throw the white blaze on most calves.

To people on this board it obviously is, but from a marketing to John Q Public standpoint, it definitely is a problem. 

Really no Invasion calves out there?

I have three coming shortly from Invasion.  Two of them are mature cows that can handle bigger ones, but the other is a El Poderosa Rey heifer that I really like.  I noticed that Invasions numbers came back to earth a little bit for 2009.  His BW and CE numbers changed quite a bit.

I am not looking for should you weant at 4 months or 5, but rather does anyone try to wean with phases of the moon? Is there any truth to weaning being easier on certain days rather than others?  For instance if you look in the Farmers Almanac for this month they say the best days to wean are...

It has been part of the Direct TV package for several years already.  It is a fantastic channel, I DVR Cattleman to Cattleman and teh Cattle Show nearly every week. Most like last nights Cattle Show are paid advertisements, however they are still extremely informative.
