    Heat check help

So I have a first calf cow that threw me a beautiful little heifer calf back in mid February. Back on the evening of April 21, I watched her standing locked up as a bred cow was mounting her.  I woke up early the next morning and bred her (4/22)  I will admit I used a straw that I am not sure...

    Blocked up steer!!!!!

Same question, different size.  I am watching a calf out in the pasture right now, and she seems to be struggling a bit.  She's probably about 7 days old.  Let nature just take its course? or should I give her something?

    Question for Simi breeders

Because of that I would go with Dream On.  His calving ease is just too great.  He might throw an occasional big one, but they come unbelievably easy.  I just had a first calf heifer lay down and put a 96 pound Dream On calf on the ground without even a bit of problem.  You should get three live...

Registerable September Angus Steer for sale

Bump Last try to see if anyone is interested.  I don't really want to take a very solid calf to the sale barn if I can avoid it.  Priced to sell. I will help as much as possible with transportation.

    A I suggestions

I think Top Sires Simmental line-up is a very solid line-up for clubby type genetics. It includes Maximus, Picasso, Salution, just about any Meyer son. Percentage wise, there were some really good ones out of SOS this past year.  Some more unkonwn ones that look to have a lot of potential are...

    Star Power

He is complete hit and miss.  70+ pounders and whoppers.  I know of one they cut out of donor recipient due to size.  All you need to know is, he went from being marketed as a heifer bull, to not being marketed as one after one breeding season.

Registerable September Angus Steer for sale

Thanks to Midway for the bloodlines on the bull.  It was Midway's bull that my father borrowed on the 8180 daughter.

Registerable September Angus Steer for sale

Have a mid September (13th) Angus steer for sale.  My father needed more room at his place so he shipped him here for now.  He isn't registered as of yet, but we could do it if needed.  The cow is an 8180 daughter, and I am not 100% certain on the bloodlines of the bull, I would have to check. ...

Simmental breeders, what's your thoughts on this bull?

Solid Dream On son.  Has the ability to make very fancy heifers.  Here is a recent thread on him. http://www.steerplanet.com/bb/index.php?topic=9504.0

    New ABS SM bull Rendition

I haven't seen him in person personally, but he has a really cool look in his yearling photo.  He sold at the Tennessee Agribition back in 2008 for $21,000 to Clearwater.  There was an embryo package with him at the OBE, and some full sib embryos at Tennessee again this year. He has a ton of...

    Built Right

He's a maternal brother to Trademark.  He is out of a legendary Black Irish cow in the Simmental breed.  He makes really nice correct showy females.  Calves tend to come slightly smaller.  He is heterozygous black, and will throw the white blaze on most calves.

Cattle That Can Resist Mad Cow Disease

To people on this board it obviously is, but from a marketing to John Q Public standpoint, it definitely is a problem.

Really no Invasion calves out there?

    Simmental Bull Invasion BW's??

I have three coming shortly from Invasion.  Two of them are mature cows that can handle bigger ones, but the other is a El Poderosa Rey heifer that I really like.  I noticed that Invasions numbers came back to earth a little bit for 2009.  His BW and CE numbers changed quite a bit.

Any thoughts on what day to wean?

I am not looking for should you weant at 4 months or 5, but rather does anyone try to wean with phases of the moon? Is there any truth to weaning being easier on certain days rather than others?  For instance if you look in the Farmers Almanac for this month they say the best days to wean are...

    RFD TV

It has been part of the Direct TV package for several years already.  It is a fantastic channel, I DVR Cattleman to Cattleman and teh Cattle Show nearly every week. Most like last nights Cattle Show are paid advertisements, however they are still extremely informative.
