How much should I sell this bull for?

I sold a regular sized Hereford last spring that was 5 years old for $2000. He would have pry pounded out for $1600 at the time. Location also has something to do with it to. I know the mini deal has really taken off in Iowa. Beef Expo this year will even have a state sponsored sale. They are...

    Hauling horses on corrugated floor

I wouldn't haul any horses without mats down with aluminum floor due to slick floor and shoes usually don't mix. So a flat floor would be helpful then.

Really people, get a life (Not cattle related)

I agree! People spend way to much on gifts. I had a late gift arrival for my dad but like we talked about were adults and its not that big of deal. We made Christmas this year in our house all about our son who is almost 2. My husband and I had so much fun with him and his gifts. We pry spoiled...

    Macho Man

It was breed rep for my area and since we raise Herefords it's not going to help you much but the principal applies. Look at the older bulls that have the traits you want to breed for if you have seen several calf crops out of them they will be more predictable.

    Depth Supplements

I use beet pulp. I have actually found it easier to find now that all the horse people use it. It's in every farm store now.

    Macho Man

Carlson your young take some advice my breed rep told me just a few weeks ago. Use a proven bull don't take shots in the dark with the newest greatest thing. Leave those young bulls for use by the experienced breeders with the bigger herds. When they have a couple consistent calf crops then use...

I got mine on Craigslist. It does really well for $80. I have had it for 3 years now with no problems. It costs me $30 every 3-4 months to fill. We are on a fill list for our area.

Are you close to any ethanol plants? I have friends in southern Iowa that are very close to an ethanol plant and they are feeding a ration with DDG to cows for very little expense.

Heifer Calf with a twisted rear leg?

If it can get around and eat and make it to weaning it will make it to market. When I worked at sale barn in college there was an ole boy that would buy all the odd calves. The 3 legged, blind, or the stuff that would only bring .05/lb. he would take them home and keep them in a small lot and...

    Showmanship-class deal breakers

Knowledge is part of the game I remember one time in senior showmanship the judge asked every how many days does a cow come into heat the girl next to me answered 24. We were both in our last year of showing so at some point you have to learn something. In my mind a good showman is the total...

    Need some feed suggestions

I switched from my homemade recipe to a bagged feed a couple of years ago and I will never do it again. If its working don't switch. We add vita term and Beet pulp as needed. My feed is pretty close to the AAOK ration on here.
