    A Caring Reminder......Local Man Killed....

Good reminder that cattle are unpredictable, even the 'tame' ones.  And, one of the consistent behaviors that cattle will display when stressed or 'worried' about what's ahead of them is to turn and go right back over where they just came from.  Be careful, everyone.  Even one can hurt you badly.

    My new show calf (pics).

I think most everyone on the Planet realizes that it's a double muscled, probably a Piedmontese or cross.  It's just a fun thread/joke.  BTW, most people refer to "Mongoloids" today as "Down Syndrome" and double muscling isn't one of the traits.

    My new show calf (pics).

I think it was 'lots' of fun, Telos.  I was going to opine that the York/Piedmontese cross has great potential to feed the world if one can find a big enough recip to deliver it!!  Never mind the grouches who didn't get it!

2010 Angus bull calf - what do you think?

There's a lot for me to like here!  Good muscle expression, nice front, good length.  From the pictures, which may not be showing everything, I'm wondering if he may show a little weakness over the loin?  It makes him look a little easy "easy topped".  Nice calf overall, though!

Need help battling a resistant infection...

Did the Vet say which of the antiiotic resistant bugs your horse is carrying?  I understand that a high percentage of horses carry, in their nasal cavities, the resistant MERSA bacteria.  I'd think that if you contact a research/veterinary center near you (do you have one?) with a report from...

    2010 Calf Pics

I had to share these pics with you, regarding the legginess.  Here's a halfblood Lowline/BueLingo heifer that had legs that I couldn't believe when she was a baby!  I couldn't imagine what she'd turn into as an older heifer.  I was amazed how well she came into herself as she matured .....thank...

    calf ????

Have they defecated normally at all?  How old are they now?  Are they nursing well and did they nurse soon after birth?  Newborns do seem to strain a bit as they pass the first stool. I guess it could be as simple as constipation to as serious as a blockage.  How many other calves have you had...

Teach me how to round bale

Squares or rounds?  Rounds, just cut the strings and unroll them to bed or cut the strings (or cut the netting off) and drop them into a round bale feeder.  Squares?  When I used them out west on my own little place, I still stuck them into the round bale feeder because that's what I had.  I cut...

Squeeze chutes - For-Most or Titan West?

I also loved my Priefert.  Specifically I loved the foot operated side open, foot operated squeeze, auto head gate, no bar handles on top to bang my head on, top and bottom of the sides opening easily in either small sections or several at time (made branding easy but I guess most on here don't...

Teach me how to round bale

Well, the big outfits find them SOOO much more efficient.  Using the right equipment makes moving, stacking etc about as easy as wrestling with a zillion small cubes.  Ranchers I know call the little ones "idiot cubes"!  Imagine putting up enough small bales of hay for 1000 mother cows, 400 or...

    2010 Calf Pics

With just this one pictures,  the considerable shadows and the fact that he appears to be standing a bit downhill, I'd like to see a little more extension up front.  Again, that could be due to his standing with his back feet a little higher than his fronts.  Fancy nice calf, though!

Teach me how to round bale

And when helping on a Wyoming ranch, the rake and baler were Vermeer.  I've yet to see the quality of bales made by that baler ....not even the 'green' ones!

***Name the Bull Promotion - FINALISTS***

I have to agree, JacobB.  I think anyone who follows rodeo more than just casually (me), wouldn't be able to use the name of the 'Legendary' Bodacious on a clubby bull.  No offense, the Lautner bull calf is pretty amazing, but he'll never be "Bodacious"!

My seven year old took pictures.

Your 7 yr old has a heck of an eye!  Nice calves, too!

    Lowline Semen

I'm retired from the Lowline breeding biz but still have quite a bit of semen on my (now deceased) bull, ABF Fitz S219.  He's a proven size reducer on commercial or 'other breed' cows.  He's a fullblood Lowline who has produced countless champion percentage and fullblood Lowlines.  He's a great...

    Oklahoma City Bombing-New Video Link

I watched it all as you suggested.  There are many 'cuts' from the different sources and none show the follow-up remarks after several days or weeks from the same sources.  I won't tell you how to analyze them if you don't judge my take on it.  I just don't give it a lot of credence as the...

Need bull hauled from Indiana to Ohio....ASAP UPDATE

Have you tried Zeigler?  They're based in Iowa and haul all over the place all the time.  I like them much better than Lathrop.  I've hauled cattle with them many times.  www.zeiglerlivestocktransport.com
