Thought I would share a picture of my wife's favorite crossbred 2 yr old, with her month old bull calf.

I don't really care for the cow but i really like that calf.
Thanks, for being honest.  What don't you like about the cow?  I'll admit it is not the best of her.  Getting both of them to cooperate was tough.

Her coat looks a little ratty - recognize she is maybe galloway cross and hasn't shed out yet.  Looking past the hair, she slopes from hooks to pins more than I like and is short from hooks to pins too.  However, udder and teat placement look pretty good.

she's just then looks to be a good cow obviously a great udder and raise d a good calf, nice hair,,, very adequate depth of body
i like her alot more in 3 months when the feed is poured to her but that costs extra money when you know what the genetics are capable of without needing them to look pretty

Nice pair!  That cow is in perfect condition and is putting it into her baby, that is her job now, not to look pretty. I commend you on not having your cows to fat.

Thanks, I appreciate your comments.  We never feed our cowherd grain, unless they find it themselves in the cornfield under 2 ft of snow.  We don't push our bulls either, they last longer.

She looks like a good cow. She just hasnt shedded that winter coat yet. Good calf too! I myself kinda like the cow, she looks to have an awesome udder on her too.

see thats whats suppose to happen when a cow is feeding her calf, I would rather see a thin cow and a fat calf then the other way around...ehem, heatwave...*cough*

Think she is headed in the right direction for a cow. Pretty udder and looks like she is feeding her baby they way they should as others have said. I think it is always tough on heifers first year they are feeding calves. What is her month old calf out of ?

The calf is out of one of our Galloway herd bulls HB Shakedown.  The heifer is 1/2 Galloway 1/2 Angus.
