    Last Grass Standing

Sure do hope you guys get something soon!  I know all of you are doing your best just to scrape by.  I don't think I'll ever complain about rain again until I know everyone's had their fair share!

    Cooler Room Temp

Yep, nobody has it worse than you.

    Cooler Room Temp

I haven't had a cooler for years but I never cranked it below 50.  Also, you'll need to gradually increase the temperature as you get closer to the show.  Here in Illinois the heat and especially the humidity can be killer.....seriously!

    Anyone tried Bovipreg

So I've now tried this product and I won't be using it again.  I did this test at the recommended times and the result was two open cows.  The vet was out today and I had her sonogram both of the so-called open cows.  She then told me they were bred and showed me the sonogram.  I had a feeling...

    ? about creep feed philosophy

Actually, creep feeding is pretty inefficient as the calves stomachs aren't developed enough to utilize the creep available.  I've read that it takes up to 5 months for all of their stomachs to fully develop and be able to utilize the grain like an older animal would.  I would stick with what...

    BIG BELLIES !!!!

Genetics are a pretty big factor but there are things that do help.  I know I don't take away from the volume of feed.  As they get closer to ideal condition I replace with beet pulp and cotton seed hulls.  I actually try to cram as much feed in their bellys as possible even if it doesn't have...

    Ipad

You're dead on.  These tablets are meant for data consumption not creation.  Their pretty cool when you want to look at stuff but if you want to input anything you'll want you laptop/home computer.

    Ipad

Sorry Knabe I have to disagree with you on this one.  Microsoft is much more than just office.  They have the best software development framework and the most cutting edge database development platform.  Oracle and DB2 are a nightmare to maintain and the Java is becoming an archaic language. Too...

    Ipad

Look at the Xoom.  I've messed with that and the ipad 2 and I think the Xoom is a better product.

    Recip help

We did that for a couple of recips.  Those were the wildest cows I've ever seen!  We don't have them anymore........

    Style heifer

I think that is how you have to mate him.  Let the cow supply the bone and thickness and let him fancy them up.

    Style heifer

Thanks for the nice comments!  I've got another Style daughter out of a Freedom dam That looks really good.  I don't know if she really fits the mainstream Angus deal that well but she'll jackpot with the best of them.

    Style heifer

I'll be able to let you know how the heifers do bred to him around January.  I've bred two to him so far.

    Style heifer

Out of 5 that we had we didn't have one over 81 pounds.  I wonder if some of the birth weight came from the simmental mommas.

    Style heifer

This is a Silveiras Style X New horizon. We're pretty high on this girl.  She's a mid February.

    Idea on Breeding Heifer

We really like ours!  I have two heifers in particular that look wicked and I have a real nice bullcalf as well.

    Idea on Breeding Heifer

I've got some Style calves and he'll really pretty up the front end and give you a real cool look but I would say that you would want to breed him to heavier boned and thicker made females to smooth them out.  He breeds really similiar to Northern Improvement.

    heifer plus and bull plus

I used it and got more heifers than bulls.  I used it on 10 of mine and then a close friend of mine used it on 50 of his.  I had 7 heifers and he said he was 65%  heifers.  We ended up having more of a demand for bulls lately so we quit using it.  It does take a long time as well.  I don't know...

    Winning!

Those are some pretty high numbers.  I wouldn't stimulate the cow so much next time.  I'd be afraid of blowing an ovary.
