Idea on Breeding Heifer

We've got a heifer that's a Dream on x Betsy ( powerdrive son on dam side). Trying to figure out what to breed her too.  She's very moderate on frame size and is small footed.  I would like to not lose and bone due that she's not big bones as some simmi's.  She's very long bodied and it thick done her top with quite a bite of depth of rib.  She is short strided.  She could use a little neck extension as well.  We are not looking to have a clubby calf.  Would like a purebred simmy or a Simangus. Wanting something with enough style to show as well.  Was think along the Angus lines to help with the stride but need something that will not down size the bone much.  Of course needs to be an easy calver too.  Let me know what ideas you all have.

Personally, I wouldn't consider Eagle Eye calving ease with a 3.7 BW EPD. How about S A V Brilliance, a Bismark son at ABS? Solid performance and solid phenotype with a -1.0 BW EPD. His dam is pictured in the support photos.

I was concerned on that with Eagle Eye too.  You know what the frame score is on Brilliance?

You can't get any more fancy angus calf  than Northern Improvement. He makes them pretty and usually passes some hair on. He won't pass alot of bone but they will grow good.

I've heard that Silveira's Style throws quite a bit of bone and thickness.  He might work for what you are looking for.

A couple of suggestions: Grandmaster will really add bone and overall power...he would give you a PB Simmi calf. JF Foundation would also be ideal...he would give you a 3/4 blood. Dream Catcher would be your most logical choice here if your heifer has plenty of body and rib. He will give you that pretty front end and will also add substance. I wouldn't go back Angus...you'd be hard pressed to find an Angus bull that will really add bone and foot size.

Thanks.  Isn't dream catcher a dream on? I wasn't wanting to do any more dream on since the sire is dream on.  What's your thoughts on Grandmaster as far as add length to the front end? I've only seen a couple of grandmasters.  How do they travel?

P.B. Grandsmaster bull calf out of a Nicole's Legacy cow (Legacy is sire of Dream On).  He moves very well and is thick and hairy.  Sorry pics are not the greatest.

Yes, Dream Catcher is a Dream On...thats my fault. But I've been very impressed with the Grandmasters and the ones I have seen have been sound. Also concerning the reference to Style I have a SimAngus out of him and she is really deep bodied, sound, clean fronted, and has adequate bone. She just lacks thickness but Style is a good one. Also you could consider Fat Butt. He's not proven yet but I personally saw the bull after he came off the cows and he was sound as a cat. The birthweight would scare me though.

I should have qualified that comment about bone and thickness. The reports I have heard on him have come from Simmi breeders, so the bone and thickness may be coming from the cows.  However, I have heard the calves are good!

We really like ours!  I have two heifers in particular that look wicked and I have a real nice bullcalf as well.
