2011 truck - gas or diesel??

Do you have an aftermarket enhancements on your Cummins?  The new 2011 Duramax is a beast.  They pretty much re-worked everything but the sheet metal.  Don't get me wrong I think Cummins is a darn good motor but my Duramax outpulls the other 2 cummins that we have on the farm.  It isn't close. ...

2011 truck - gas or diesel??

If they would start concentrating on fuel efficiency instead of having their power wars I think we could see some results.  The 2011 Duramax that I have has more than enough power.  In fact I would trade power for better mileage. Seriously how much power do we need?  We had a 7.3 powerstroke...

2011 truck - gas or diesel??

I have a 2011 Duramax and love it!  You are correct that you won't run out of def as long as you add it when you get your oil changed.  Every gas station that I've seen carries it and if you do have to fill it would be pretty easy to put in under the hood.  I get about 19 mpg on the highway and...

    Angus Bull question

I agree with Freddy on the disposition of Net Worths.  If you breed him to a docile cow you won't have a problem. If you use him on something that has a bad attitude they can be pretty nasty.  There isn't any grey area with this bull.  I worked on one about a year ago that was straight up evil. ...

    Best bull in each breed

I'm not a fan of Lutton.  Never used him and never will.  It takes too many to get a good one and then you still have to pray that the good one holds together.  I would use Northern Improvemvent over him any day.

    Clipping a Simmental Bull

It will be the same as a heifer but find the crest on the bull.  You want to try and make a straight line from the top of the shoulders to his poll.  The very top of his crest will need to be clipped the tightest. Do you have a picture?

    7ft or 8ft chute?? or 1/2 chute??

I personally like the 8ft. aluminum.  The 7ft. chute works perfect for calves but I have problems with big heifers.  I always fight the back bar when pulling the back legs.  I would love to have a half chute for my real tame ones.

    BC Eagle Eye

Good to hear these reports on Eagle Eye!  If there was one thing I was wondering about it would have been the shoulders on his offspring.  I thought that he was very bold shouldered when I saw him.  Is he transmitting this to his calves excesively?  I can handle a little bit of shoulder as I'd...

FANCY Angus Heifer For Sale (video added)

I agree that leg set gets worse when they get older but I usually see it after a year of age or so.  When they are this young I think they are still changing quite a bit since they are growing rapidly.  Straight legged cattle worry me as they don't get old enough to get too much set.  As an...

What are so bad about her back legs?  At her age she should have a little set in her legs to grow into.

    Thinking of a name change

I'm gonna come to your place and load up as much of your water as I can transport and give it to my cows!  Out of the last 5 years I've only had one where I've had more heifers.  Right now I'm on a terrible string of ET bulls.  so far 5 out of 5 bulls with two more to go!  All things considered...

    For All You Drowning

We finally got .4 inch last night!  Our March was just about as dry as yours.  I'd love for it to rain to get our pastures going.  We're starting to run short on hay.

Silveiras Style X Freedom heifer calf.....New Pic!

I thought about breeding heifers to him last year but chickened out.  I think he will be fine on heifers.  Our Heifer calves out of him are mid 70's and the bulls haven't been over 81lbs.  They are shaped right to come out easy.  I actually bred a heifer to him this morning.  They do stouten up...

This heifer is 4 days old.  We've been anxiously awaiting this one!  Our style calves have been real nice so far.   Edited 10/01/2011: This heifer has really come on as of late.  Let me know what you think!  This heifer has a 3/30 birthdate.

They both look darn nice!  The thing that I hate is that we have to get them so darn fat!  I'm guilty as anybody when it comes that.

    Anyone tried Bovipreg

The closest thing that I have to a gomer is if I have an early bull calf.  Those little guys can really mark like crazy when they get some age to them.  I am a paranoid soul by nature.  Even if I haven't seen anything for two cycles I get nervous if I see some signs that they are coming in. ...

    Iphone App?????????

Iphone people are addicted to apps.  Android users are becoming just as demanding.  Although there is a mobile version apps still organize things better.  Mobile versions basically cut the fat and allow it to load faster.  Apps customize everything for the operating system on the phone.  An...
