    5 yr old Jennet donkey for sale or trade! will break calves or used as guard animal. ANY reasonable offer or trade accepted.  We no longer need her to break calves and she is messing with the stockdog pup too much..... the only thing I will not trade for is something that eats!  no dogs...

    Need help- grafting a calf

    Skinning works great... If you can't do that.  get some vics vapo rub and rub on the cows nose and rub it on the calf... confuses the cow and once the smell goes away she has licked that new arrival and all is good.

    oldest cow you know of?

    our old Pandora cow which was AM's grand dam was 19 when she died and I found her just like justintime's old cow dead in the pasture like she was asleep.... Only cow I have ever buried!  When I bought her she was 10 and looked 5  and she was still a pretty cow right up until the end...

    buying cattle with an environment change

    as a rule you can easily move cows from East to West but not back.  western cows do not have the rumen capacity of eastern cows and are not used to eating as much to stay productive... Bulls on the other hand do better than cows. I too have found that If you winter them and feed them your own...

    those old bulls are awesome.... that's why we have been trying to reproduce them for years!!!! in 40 yrs bulls like Gizmo and Image and Am will be right there in that club! and will still be good cattle!

    To fudge or not to fudge, that is the question!

    I would never fudge that one!!! Fudging is the biggest reason EPDs are worthless! Unless you can get EPDs based on your herd alone they mean absolutely nothing. Fudging is also why we have show cattle that are way to big.  Age a calf 6 weeks to win a show and now everyone is buying bulls that...

    Well here they are!!!  I am pleased!  Average BW  is 74 lbs if you take out the biggest which is 95 and the smallest at 65...Keep in mind that I have smaller framed  linebred cows and we do not feed them ....they get winter pasture and crappy fescue hay and no supplement of any kind except...

    Shorthorn bulls (video)

    You guys are going to get a visit from me some day in the next year or so..... My next bull will be the first outcross in about 10 yrs of line breeding and I think a Saskvalley bull is just the way I need to go!!!
