    Is S A V Final Answer 0035 Heifer Safe?

Proven and time tested.  I am using some this year.  NO MORE MAINES for ME on HEIFERS!!!  Next time i think about it, somebody kick me in the groin.  The pain is similar but doesn't last as long.

    Headliner

We should be hearing about some more Headliner calves by now.  Is he working similar to Monopoly?  I have heard conflicting reports.  I bought 20 units when Monopoly started to get short.  I really like my Monopoly calves on the harder made, jack necked cows.  He has consistently added body and...

    HEAT SEEKER cows---best sire

I have seen several very nice Dirty Hairy's on Heat Seeker cows.  The best one i have seen this spring is bred that way.  I believe reserve at MO AGR was DH x HS.

What age do you personally breed heifers to calve at?

i generally try to get them to calve at 23 months.  Calve most of my cows mid march to mid april and like to have heifers calve about a month earlier.  I do this to give them a little extra time post partum to breed and calve with the cowherd for their next calf.  It is pretty easy to back 1st...

Sievers and Maas have sold an interest in their bull Doc to Wade Rogers and Tim Heckman.  See the new flyer with info http://www.showcattlepage.com/productionclassic/images/2010/4-15-10/MAAS%20SHOW%20CATTLE%20-%20DOC%202010%20(SC)%20PRINT.pdf I have used him and had great luck on first calvers.

    Bold Statement

that is actually an About Time.  I always had pretty good luck with him on stout boned maine cows.  Bold Statement's just didn't give me the same punch.

    Bold Statement

What do you think of this ration???

Why use oats?  in my neck of the woods, they are expensive and relatively low feed value in comparison to other grains.  If a finishing type ration, i would stay with corn and steam rolled barley, add molasses or liquid fat for additional energy and dust control.  stay high side for digestable...

"MY TURN" Information by Brad Hook.....please read.

I have had several, no difficulites on mature cows.  weights ranging from mid 80's to upper 90's.  He has not worked for me on higher % Maine cows, and given the updated pedigree can guess that too much Maine would be a potential issue.  I have a couple on ChiAngus cows that look ok.  More to come.

    Polled Pursuit photo?

Simply a commentary on the times.  I was as guilty as the next guy in the 80s and early 90s for selecting big, lean, typey cattle.  I remember the day well, when we sold all the direct Cunia x Angus cows to make room for the yellow and white simmis and the orange chi's.  Showed steers that...
