Anyone seen any or used much of the Headliner bull? Any info appreciated.

The farm that raised him , stockridge, isnt too farm from me. i have never seen the bull but he has got really good calves. One calf in particular was a eye catcher and Kegleys sale this fall.

It looks like he will work on cows with some Maine influence, Highliner is out of a Kadabra sired cow with 224X on the bottom.

Headliner is a great choice for pretty, hard doing cows.  He has a ton of natural power and middle third, but he can make them a little plain.  thinking to cows I would use him on, nfl, windsor, pale face, etc.  Oh yea, they will be sound.  In fact, sometimes they can be just a little soft in the rear leg.  However, there is no doubt if you used him on ten of your prettiest most clubby cows, you will get a couple super stars.

I saw Headliner a few years ago out in the pasture and was extremely impressed.  We have one Headliner heifer, she's actually the top right heifer in the link that was posted above.  She showed really well for us last year.  She is sound, big bodied, and super cowy.  I would make her a little cleaner through her neck and dewlap but I think she'll make a great cow. 

I would definately recommend using him!

We should be hearing about some more Headliner calves by now.  Is he working similar to Monopoly?  I have heard conflicting reports.  I bought 20 units when Monopoly started to get short.  I really like my Monopoly calves on the harder made, jack necked cows.  He has consistently added body and hair for me.  Can I expect Headliner to breed similar?  I am hearing that they are bigger framed, less hair and not as "cute",  Can anyone lend 1st hand experience and opinions.

Chap, Joe & Chris Knowles used quite abit of Headliner last year & have used Monopoly in the past. They should have a fairly good idea of how the 2 bulls should compare. Brent

You must have the wrong bull. Is it Highliner you were talking about?

Are his BW's similiar to Monopoloy? Last year we did not touch a Monopoly calf, this year different story. We jacked a 150 pounder today and another one was 128#. Last year the same cows had 90# unassisted. I am a little apprehensive about using these genetics today. Talk me off the ledge please. I was definitely planning on ordering Headliner and possibly some All Aboard, but today I am rethinking that.

I do not worry about the birth weights.  I just flush the cows I am  afraid of losing and then put the embryos into cows that I can afford to lose.  I did not make the rules.  The brilliant judges are the ones that have decided this is sound genetics so we just "cowboy up" and do it.
