    Pelton Wideload calf

AJ, as promised here is a pic of my first Wideload calf. It was supposed to be a heifer, but I was 10% chance of a bull. 70lbs and very vigorous. The dam is a nice looking Red Blair's Bingo x Towaw Lakima 76m.

    Theft

First, where are you located? There are no cattle stolen here. Most people around here are scared of cattle. Second, don't have any corrals in this new pasture, that just makes it easier to pen and load the cattle. Also add locks and heavy chain on the entrances. Third, daily checks to keep an...

    Pelton wide load-Red Angus bull

I think Detour makes them as good as any in the Red Angus breed right now.

    Pelton wide load-Red Angus bull

I almost bought a heifer by him this past fall. She was super good, sound and stylish while maintaining that brood cow thickness.

    Pelton wide load-Red Angus bull

AJ, I have 2 due in about a week. I'll let you know then. As of right now I'm super excited. A friend saw calves at Peltons and said they were badass.

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

Had one of mine arrive today. Wasn't around and wasn't expecting her to calve. Checked her at noon and there it was. 56lb heifer calf, had nursed and had plenty of vigor. Slender built with a long smooth front. Hopefully she turns on the grow now.

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

Interesting. I'll be curious to see how my 2 come this year. They should hit the ground any day. What was the breeding on the cows side? Any feed fed right up till calving?

    Breeding Options - HELP!

He will add bone, rear quarter, and make a stout hip. But the one I have lacks in the depth department and overall frame size. Not a huge deal just putting it out there for the OP.

NWSS Display Bull Reports and Thoughts

They are, just got a few daughters of the soo line in this past week!  <rock> Now for thread relevant info, I was told the champ red angus bull MIMI was an incredibly broken shouldered. But somehow they got him fixed up. PTO is a beast just pretty moderate I'm told.

    Birth weight epds and such

Until the beef breeds adopt some type of phenotype EPD like the dairy industry I don't think you'll ever be able to breed solely off of the numbers. Unless you like big numbered cattle and don't care what they look like. I enjoy looking at cattle way to much to spend time looking at trash. As...

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

I will have a better idea after I calve a couple more heifers, but at this point I'd say you could use him and not have to worry about a thing. The breeder is a guy I consider a friend and he has said all of his calves have come small.

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

The one I had last year grew really well, good muscle, sound and super clean fronted. I really liked him for a steer. I saw several at the Pa Farm Show on Monday.....they were all very fancy, clean fronted, with ample depth. If I were to pick on anything I'd want some more bone maybe, but...

Great read for all cattlemen and all mankind

Sounds like he was an incredible young man. As a parent I hope I'm never faced with this.
