I think Detour makes them as good as any in the Red Angus breed right now.

I almost bought a heifer by him this past fall. She was super good, sound and stylish while maintaining that brood cow thickness.

Had one of mine arrive today. Wasn't around and wasn't expecting her to calve. Checked her at noon and there it was. 56lb heifer calf, had nursed and had plenty of vigor. Slender built with a long smooth front. Hopefully she turns on the grow now.

He will add bone, rear quarter, and make a stout hip. But the one I have lacks in the depth department and overall frame size. Not a huge deal just putting it out there for the OP.

Until the beef breeds adopt some type of phenotype EPD like the dairy industry I don't think you'll ever be able to breed solely off of the numbers. Unless you like big numbered cattle and don't care what they look like. I enjoy looking at cattle way to much to spend time looking at trash. As...

I will have a better idea after I calve a couple more heifers, but at this point I'd say you could use him and not have to worry about a thing. The breeder is a guy I consider a friend and he has said all of his calves have come small.

The one I had last year grew really well, good muscle, sound and super clean fronted. I really liked him for a steer. I saw several at the Pa Farm Show on Monday.....they were all very fancy, clean fronted, with ample depth. If I were to pick on anything I'd want some more bone maybe, but...
