Stayability and milk. Has there been any studies?

I would think a hard milking cow would breed back easier. She should have less strain on her, but one would think she would be culled because of low weaning weights. Have to find that happy medium IMO

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

This calf is from what I'll call a more "common" type cow. So as of right now the calf looks just ok. The other calves I have seen out of Shell Shocked have been pretty awesome though. As for red, I like it....just wish it was a heifer. Lol I do not have any more due this year. But will keep...

    Ideal Yearling Weight for Heifers

I will breed at 12-14mo. I like them calve at or a little before 24mo. I had a few last year that were probably around 1000lbs at 1 year....they have all calved with their second calves. My replacements this year are around 750-850 and will be bred in another month. I guess what I'm saying is...

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

The calf was 65lbs, and I'd say he is built like a calving ease calf, kinda slender and long. Remington Secret Weapon is a documented carrier of the red gene, so red is an option on some calves I suppose. As for the white, he has a dot on his head and some white at his navel. His dam is a...

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

Had my shell shocked last night....a deep cherry red bull calf >:( I haven't weighed him yet but id bet 60lbs. He came backwards and if I let her go she probably coulda had him herself, but the outcome woulda been different I think. Will update later this morning with pictures.

    HOC Broker Calves

For coming from a Milestone cow that's a dang good BW. That calf certainly has the potential to be a dandy!

    Suggestions on Simmental bulls

Real world production with flash and heifer safe? I'd go HPF Optimizer! I had one hit the ground out of 1st calf heifer at 62lbs. It was a scrawny thing and I was unimpressed. Fast forward to it being almost 60 days old and man has this thing changed! It's grown fast, is wide and thick, and...

    Best show calf feed?

Rowe gets my vote. It's a dang nice feed and reasonable IMO.

I have always loved the Mia cow. Embryos by Excutive Order should make some great ones!

    Steel Livestock Trailers

When we were milking cows we had a 16ft TopCat. That thing hauled a WHOLE bunch of cattle in its life. It finally rusted out to the point of no return, but it was a good trailer. I now have a 20ft EBY and would never go back to steel. I understand your stance on them, but I would also consider...

    VCCP sale

I have quite a few of the results written down. I was there for about 2/3rds of the sale. Anything specific you want to know? I can update later in the day with what I have.

I don't agree with that. But maybe my idea of moderate is different from everyone else's.

%Sim bull to soften & add frame

Good luck! Trying to find a bull that will sure enough ADD frame is no easy task. Been looking around myself.  I will be following this thread. I will add....it seems JF Milestone genetics tend to add frame. How big is your cow?

    SSC Shell Shocked 44B

I spoke with the breeder this evening. He says he is adding lots of front 1/3 extension, lots of middle and great hair. Of the calves I've seen in person the depth and spring of rib is great, and the heifers are the kind to make great cows.

    Slider??

Mark, I am a huge No Remorse fan, but his numbers have changed a bit. And I'm not sure I'd use him on a heifer....unless she was closely monitored.
