    Best Angus Calves this year

I haven't seen any of his progeny but I am certainly familiar with his dam.  I guess my question is, why use him vs Pioneer himself?  Worse performance, same calving ease.  The only reason I can think of is to add the influence of his dam. She's a great cow but certainly not uniquely bred.  004...

    Best Angus Calves this year

Pioneer is in my opinion, the best son of Final answer in terms of useful, predictable progeny, calving ease, growth, and maternal function.  They make great cows and the bulls are just as good.  All while having adequate growth and thickness.

    Best Angus Calves this year

Pretty strong group of calves off of both of the MOGCK Bullseye sons we used. Bruns Blaster (Genex) and a son that I bought to walk clean-up last year. Stout, jet black, and hairy calves. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who only got bull calves.  We had a more than 2 to 1 ratio of bulls to...

    Angus Herd Sire Progression

Picture of Graceland, an Elvis son, at 3 yrs of age.  He's starting to look a lot like his sire.

    Steer Opinion

Looks like a solid market steer.  He's no "show steer" but for your local county fair he is perfectly suited.  Looks like he should hang up a nice carcass too.  Nice work.

Ok one more to ask opinions of :-) Angus this time

First class - show cattle deluxe.  They've got the look, the hair, and make-up to win in the ring.  High BW, avg performance, poor docility, and no scrotal are his pitfalls. Not great for keeping bulls or making cows. Not saying they can't work, but the averages are not in his favor. The Bando...

    Smokey heifer calves

Nice set of calves!  I had to look twice.  I coulda swore the last 2 pics were the same calf.

    Angus Herd Sire Progression

Good point!  If you want predictability in this business that's about as good as it gets.  Find yourself a masculine, powerful, wedge shaped bull in this mold and his daughters will keep you in business a lot longer than any smooth fronted "show" bull.

    Angus Herd Sire Progression

Updated pic of N7's Elvis 9Y at 6 years of age.  His daughters are going to be his legacy.  Pic of a random 3 yr old daughter of his. Man can they produce.

    SAV Bismarck Female

That does sound like quite a list of extenuating circumstances. At 86 pounds it would be heavier than any bismarck I have had and where I live bw are consistently 5-10lbs higher due to the cold. Glad to see she's doing well.  It's certainly a nice calf. Best of luck.

    SAV Bismarck Female

Always the goal to get a solid, live calf the first time. Them Bismarck make great mommas.  Get her bred right next time and she'll have the milk to get you a great one  (thumbsup)

Nice calf Bronco!  Looks like he's got some shape to him.  Looks promising.  Keep us updated.

    Getting show cattle into Canada

No problem.  In reality it would just depend how busy the border and the vet is.  Seems way easier to stay on the south side.

    Getting show cattle into Canada

By the time you have the health inspections done at the border, it'll eat up that hour you save.  Just stay on the US side.

Who is the BEST fronted "maternal bull" to make replacement females?

Haha.  If you've already got some muscle you won't lose anything in the thickness and power department.  Check out my thread on my Bismarck cow: http://www.steerplanet.com/bb/the-big-show/sav-bismarck-female/

Half blood Beltie heifer to critique

Nice heifer.  I'm not going to suggest a bull cuz I have no useful knowledge on the breeds you're looking for haha.

Yup. Bought a single one and it's great. Will be getting more.  Cheap, bright, durable.
