So I went to look at a 4yr old cow with a good friend of mine. He's in the same boat as me and starting to build a registered herd. She is a half sister to First-In-Goal. Was a 4h show heifer and did well for herself.  She's a big soggy cow and real easy on the eyes. Any insights to her pedigree would be appreciated.

Also wanted to add she's confirmed 4 months bred to BC Classic

YUP! That's a big one.

If you're looking for "number cattle" she's got some low CE numbers. I'm curious to see what she looks like!

I'm trying to see where you see that she's a potential DD carrier.....I see the couple of parents that say DDF behind thier names, are you saying that she's a potential carrier because of them or am I missing something that slapping me in the face?

Says "(DDP)" right below her registration number.  It is several generations back from a bull named High Voltage back in the  80's.  Probably a very small chance she is a carrier, but I would want to test and clear it.

So to answer the question, yes the seller has offered to get her tested. That aside what are your thoughts on her lineage? I've not had any of my cows be out of these lines what are thier stronger point what are the weaker points. From what I understand her sire was a bull that sold for $306,000 if I'm not mistaking​. That speaks for itself self in a sense, not saying he is without flaws but he was popular for something. Any insight is welcome

There are a lot of bulls out there with better epd's.

You can throw all of that out the window if you
are chasing purple ribbons.

The -1 CED and high birth weight scare me.
That is why I have not considered the sire
for use on my Angus cows.

Let me clarify, I am not getting this heifer. I'm looking her up for a friend who took me to look at her for my opinion of her and to do the research on her. Honestly to look at the cow it's hard to pick her apart. She has the look he and I both like, not and she's got the cow maker look when you look at her. I've never had any dealing with the cattle in her bloodline. So I have reached out here to have a better understanding of the cattle on her papers.

First class - show cattle deluxe.  They've got the look, the hair, and make-up to win in the ring.  High BW, avg performance, poor docility, and no scrotal are his pitfalls. Not great for keeping bulls or making cows. Not saying they can't work, but the averages are not in his favor.

The Bando lineage on the cow side is a more maternal line.  Should help balance the show stuff a bit.

The other part of the pedigree doesn't mean much to me.

Did you look her up on AAA? I would have a couple questions, ESPECIALLY if I was looking at cow(s) to start a herd.
1. Is this her first calf that she is pregnant with? No calves have been reported, but she might have had unregistered calves? If not, fertility may be in question. Current owner records show papers changed hands 8/2016.
2. Her dam, a 2005 model, has only "1" recorded (Assuming the cow you're looking at?) The 2005 cow changed hands 11/2103, she had the cow you're looking at at the age of 8, so she also may have been just producing unregistered calves?

There could be very legitimate reasons for the AAA records not reflecting the calving records of these correctly, but it would be nice to know if trying to start a registered herd.

The sire First Class is as said by cowboy_nyk "show bull deluxe" ...self explanatory.

Side Note:  If this is this cow's first calf, I'd be there to help, if needed, when she has the BC Classic.

I guess, for me, it would depend on what his goals are for his herd.  If he's looking for performance type cattle, I'd probably pass.  If he's looking to raise show calves, she would be worth a shot.

Let me ask this cause I'm new to epds and how they work. She has a high birth weight​ epds and lower weaning and yearling epds, could he breed this cow to a low birth EPD bull such as -1.4 and he have a higher end with his weaning and yearling say the weaning was 80+ and the yearling was in the upper 100's would this help balance this cow out some and atleast help the calf have better number spread so he could possibly keep it if it were to be a heifer and then sell the cow?

Not much to go by from what is listed on her epds (which, I believe, at this time is just the average of her sire and dam's epds). Genomic testing might make her look better, or worse, on paper. She is in the bottom 5% for CED and BW. She is in the top 15% for WW and the top 35% for YW. Looking back at the sire and dam, the CED and BW numbers look legitimate. Scrotal size for her bull calves could be a turn off for a performance bull prospect, doesn't seem like it bothers the show crowd though.
