Grand and Reserve came from the same class.  Class 9, which was the lightest in the heavyweight division.  Don't know who owned them, but i am sure they are thrilled.  By the way both had black hides.

Thanks, our Ag. Teacher said it was the strongest overall class of Shorties he has ever seen.  I read here that all of the great Shorthorns end up in Texas, well I don't know about all of them, but there definitely plenty of them that found their way down here.

Knabe, at Fort Worth there is not a sift for the European class you simply declare.  It is full of Chi's, Maine's, Simmi's, Charolais, even had some Shorthorn crosses that had to much exoctic blood to meet breed characteristics of the "Purebred Class".  There are 4 lightweight classes, 4 medium...

Hard to tell I did not see all 2000 steers housed in four barns.  The Champions of all the breeds were tremendous, but the winner will have a black hide around it.

I saw Chambero yesterday, they show this morning in the Medium Weights.  Calf looked nice, but the Medium and Heavy Weights are stacked with the true studs of the European Class.

We didn't.  If you are not pulled to be judged you are simply dismissed from the showring.  For example 36 Shorthorn lightweights in class, 14 were selected to be judged upon entering the ring, the remainder are dismissed and you are through.  In the Baldy calf's class 66 entered and 15 were...

For us you can change "Going" to "Gone" from Fort Worth.  Neither of the one of the boys calves were branded.  It was a real eye opener for us rookies, as we learned that we have really good calves that have not been exposed to the tricks of the trade.  We were not ashamed of our calves and will...

    Going to Ft. Worth

Yes 15 hours!  They arrived Tuesday at 1:30 am and unloaded at 4:30 pm.  There will be close to 2000 steers there, and the swine exhibits arrived yesterday.  Both of our steers dropped 30 lbs. while waiting on the trailer to unload.  Everthing is bigger, but there has to be a better way to...

    Going to Ft. Worth

After waiting in line 15 hours the boys got settled in at Barn 1 stalls 21-25.  Official weigh-in and sifting started at 7:00 am CST and will take all day.  Chambero e-mailed me yesterday they are in Barn 1 stalls 333-338.  Look us up!

Anybody interested in seeing the calves or meeting myself and my sons, we are housed in cattle barn #1 with Garrison FFA.  I'll be there Wednesday evening and Thursday, look for the ugly 6'7" 280lb. man with white goatee.  There should not many like that hanging around our exhibit stalls.  Look...

Thanks for the compliments and good wishes!  You have good judging skills also.  The Friction is by far the better of the two calves, but the Shorty has a better shot at making the premium sale.  The Friction will be thrown in with all European Breeds and the Shorty will compete only against...

    Going to Ft. Worth

The black calf is a Friction x Simmi cross and currently weighs 1150.  The Shorty is out of a son of Eskimo Joe and weighs 1100.  Both will be lightweights at Fort Worth. Knabe, Thanks for the compliment on the clip job.  I will pass this along to our Ag. Teacher, since he does all of it for...

    Charlie4s Remembered

I hate to post one of our newest members Charlie4s passed away last night due to complications from an earlier heart attack.  Charlie is a former Ag. Science teacher that I worked with in the mid '90's, he was a wonderful person to be around, good friend and greatly enjoyed helping kids get into...

    20 million illegal aliens

Knabe,  Maybe I am missing something here, but I can't make the connection you seem to have with public schools and the brain-washing of our American youth.  I will not argue that our educational system has it flaws, but the quality of the people that I encountered during my 11 years of service...

    Fort Worth Jr. Heifer Results

Congrats Showstick09, my oldest son gave up his spot in the scramble after his experience with his current scramble heifer.  He was ready to go home and start working with his steer for Fort Worth.  I hope the student that got his spot caught and enjoyed the experience.
