    Best haired sires

calves out of our who daughters have always been really fuzzy. had a hairy bear that had a lot of hair but it wasn't the best hair. had an eye candy that had a ton of hair that was really soft and easy to work with. the fuzziest i have ever worked with was a direct hit heifer. she had loads...

    Ford Powerstroke question

the new 6.7's are the way to go for the fords. they designed them better overall. it's been a while since i talked to the diesel tech at our dealer but he had been around a few and had just loved them. i pulled a 28 foot stock trailer with one and you almost didn't know there was a trailer...

Iphone Photo of David (immortal x 902) Bull

i wasn't a big fan of immortal when i saw him but i have liked the calves that i have seen out of him. i think you nailed the description. stout and wide, but moderate framed. there are plenty of cows to breed him to. i could see him making those thick chubby calves that are popular now.

Natural Stride, Sound Advantage or something better???

haven't had to use natural stride before this year but we are feeding it to a steer now. i don't know how much it will help, but i will say that he has stopped knuckling his pasterns when he walks. i would say that it is useful for smaller problems but we are dealing with a small sample size...

    Shampooing out adhesives

you will have one heck of a time trying to get the hair to separate and to hold with glue on the second day if you don't use soap after you break them down. all the glues are broken down by oils. oil and water don't mix so no matter how much you rinse you can't get the heavy oil out of the...

    What is a registration worth?

chi registrations aren't that much really. better to do it now while it's cheaper as it might sway a potential buyer later because of the convenience. plus registering one tells the buyer that you think she was good enough to go through with the process.

ideas on what to flush her too

i like the sound of eye candy. he shouldn't throw any tiny ones as most i've seen or heard of have some grow. got an eye candy x wazn't me heifer that is really long strided and sound with a heavy structure and loads of hair.

    Leg Hair

give it some time. keep conditioning and brushing. i prefer to brush legs when they are wet so that when they dry, the leg hair is somewhat popped. sounds like the hair on a friction steer i showed once. he had softer, finer leg hair that never really seemed to pop well. however, it pulled well...

    Ohio State

http://thomatimes.tumblr.com/ nice article that has been going around on facebook that i read the other day. there will be some set backs in the program but they won't show for at least a year or two. there is a lot of talent in the freshman and sophomore ranks, granted if they don't transfer...

    Weaver Livestock Products

we only used the white spray once but it seemed to be less gummy than the sullivan stuff. it is a little more powdery if you know what i mean. the other thing is the cans look too much alike. that's not terrible but i picked up a wrong can that had been switched out and you don't hardly notice...

    Weaver Livestock Products

i always seem to get dud cans from sullivans that are full but have no pressure. that's about the only time i have used the paint from weavers. probably just an isolated incidence but it was frustrating at the time.

    Weaver Livestock Products

they are okay. neither lines are perfect in my opinion but i think i would use either product. i noticed the strong adhesive from weaver was kinda in between tail and prime time strength wise. it also seemed to be a little powdery which was nice for shows that don't allow paint like in ohio...

    Down headed calf

some times the structure of the shoulder influences the way the neck ties into the shoulder. a calf forward in his shoulder and a little straighter might have a lower neck attachment just because his shoulder being forward causes that low attachment. i don't know if down headed calves tend to...
