Well things were going pretty good today as we prepared for the c-section. The vet gave the teat a jerk as he looked at her udder. Chocolate pudding and blood is what came out all four teats. I have never had mastitis and the vet said it was uncommon in heifers. He told us to strip her twice a day and we treated her with antibiotics. IN mean time had to get some colostrum to feed baby girl below. She ate a pint and half this evening and didn't seem interested in any more she was more interested in trying to jump. We tried to get her to eat about every hour but no go. So 12M we were gonna leave her til morning if she didn't eat. Anyone else ever had this happen?

Just an update. We gave second round of Nuflor and tonight the milk is running clear. no more pudding and blood. I did exactly what the vet said strip her out twice a day and treat every other day with Nuflor for 3 doses. Oxytocin for 3 doses for two days and started Lutalyse on Friday. Today we have MILK! Good thing because I hate to feed bottle babies.

Congratulations!

I thought that heifer looked good in the first picture, and that she would be worth all of the trouble for you!!!

I'm guessing that letting mom do the work will be a LOT easier.

Good Work!
