ai'ing drama!

well its that time...this morning at 4am we ai'd two...both in standing heat at the same time(first time ive had that happen!)...i had pinned them up in the barn last night, so i wouldnt have to be chasing them around a mountain @ 3 in the morning...anyway, ai'd those two...go to check on the other 3 we have synched right now (approx. 5 am), and all three had their stickers rubbed completely pink!  two of the three were definitely standing...but the third cow,was ridding like crazy but nothing was jumping on her, yet her sticker was completely rubbed....she has me baffled!!!  and of course, shes the one i am most anxious about getting stuck!  she basically went from grey to pink from 9pm to 5am...and riding the other two...but i did not see anything ride her...but something must have for it to be pink!  ugh!  what should i do with her? should i breed her with the other two @ 4pm...or be patient???  im just worried that i might have missed her, but dont know if the time frame makes that even possible? 

any thoughts on breeding her twice?  and of course i didnt order any extra semen from that bull...so it would mean sacrificing one of the others i had planned on breeding to have two straws of jpj for this one cow...the other cow i would just use something clubby...

oh decisions decisions! 

and i need an answer/advice by 4!

In my experience once a cow has stopped standing she loses interest and will not ride other cows as much. If your cow is riding like crazy she is probably just coming in heat. I would probably breed her this evening if her tag has changed colors.

Could you split a straw? That is what I would have done with your first two.

breed her at 4 pm and if she feels dry ( not quite a good heat), give her a shot of GnRH
or breed her twice  :-\

I would go ahead and breed her. If her sticker was rubbed off, then something must have been riding her. Just keep an eye on her and if you think it's too early, breed her twice to be on the safe side.

My A.I. conceptions have gone way up since I stopped following the 12 hour rule.  If you get to them sometime between 12-18 hours after they are standing, you should be good.  I do not breed cows at 4 a.m. or midnight anymore, and my conception rates have been 90-95% for the last 3 years.
