AIing with Sexed Heifer Semen

When AIing with sexed heifer semen what size straw is recommend, 2ml or 5ml and how many should I use?  I am not flushing I am wanting to just AI using sexed heifer semen.  Thanks!

The 2.1 million dose straws are designed for AI. Just one straw per insemination.That's what we use and that is what Sexing Technologies uses on their own cattle as well.

the dosage in each straw depends on the processor.. It's better to go with an actual dosage, instead of a cc of straw...

I have been told that on some popular bulls, the owners/ semen distributors wish to make each collection string out as far as they can- thus diluting the number in each straw.. whereas most people who collect for themselves, want to make each straw as potent as they can.  I for one, keep my straw full- egg yolk doesn't settle anything.

To the best of my knowledge, all sexed semen is packaged in 1/4 cc straws, the same as standard embryo straws.  Thats what I use for sexed semen is embryo guns and sheaths and it has worked fine.  What the guys above have said about different concentration levels is true, make sure you get your sexed semen from a reliable source and you will only have to use 1 straw per conventional breeding (non flush breeding).

used it in the past, worked fine, bought directly from owner of bull, 2 out of 3 stuck and were heifers, the third didnt stick
