I got to help the Odessey group from KU here about 10 days. Artifacts came out of the dark layer. The dirt from this level smelled like rich farm ground. It had roughly 7 foot of over burden over it. Bone out of this Kanarado Paleosol was radio carbon dating to Clovis times. I personally found a very small debitage piece. Steve Hollen from the Denver of Museum kinda started the interest in this area as I-70 construction actually revealed the site.

The Little Ice Age is another interesting event and it occurred in Europe between 1300 and 1850 AD which isn't all that long ago in the grand scheme.

I crack up a lot at what AJ says on here. I have also been able speak with Okotoks through emails and on the phone. Very nice and genuine guy and Jaime too. I think I'm facebook friends with all of you? Jaimie, no offense, but when AJ posted that conspiracy I laughed out loud not because of anything personal, It just reminded me of all the piddly back and forths and how piddly it all really is in the grand scheme of life. Trevorgrey......the altithermal was probably isolated to the high plains. There is supposed evidence at "Mustang Springs" New Mexico and around of lowered water tables. And the sciencetist noticed that no recorded sites seem to be found dating to that timeframe. There are areas where wind blown silt seems to have covered up the "dark layer". There are theories of areas having canyon filling dirtstorms.....dry.......fires.....and hot temps.

I am a amateur anthropologist. I go to all kinds of seminars and stuff. There is a site bout 5 miles from here.....bison kill site......Laird-Busse site......dalton point and bison skeletons. Radiocarbon dated to 8,000 years ago. Busse cache site is colse. Time wise there have been folsoms and clovis points found in this area. timeline......11,000 bc to 1880. There is a timeframe between about 8,000 to 5,000 bc where very little stuff is found. They think there was a 3 to 5 thousand year drought out here where every body went to the mountains or to present day eastern Colorado. I love studying about it.....helped with the Kanarado dig a couple weeks.

Thank you AJ by your explanation. I was to list Clovis people on my post, but was in doubt of my accuracy. This is a theme that I love much...Ice Age, Megafauna, Clovis people, etc.....Good job! Congrats.
