ALI as cows

ALI has been used for a couple of years now, but I have not heard anything on the quality of cows his daughters are making.  Anybody have them? What kind of udders, mature size, teat placement/quality, fleshing ability, reproductive soundness, etc.  I am gonna breed a group of F1 Char/Angus heifers to him and would like to know if the resulting offspring might make replacement females.

Good question Chap!
I've seen some Ali females but they just never stuck out in my mind.
i'm sure as many cattle that have been bred to him someone has some good ideas.

We don't have any, but he was a new sire in 2004 so the females out of him would be 1st calf heifers this year(if I added correctly) kind of hard to tell for me anyway on the 1st calf.  I know DeRouchey used him alot, you might check with them to see if they kept any.

We've had some nice Ali's over the last 3 years.  Most of the heifers have sold as calves.  We do have a couple that we'll breed this year.  So far they're looking nice.

I bought 3 Ali heifers from Deroucheys last year. 1 show hfr, 2 replacements. Am breeding them now as well, time will tell...

if he was born in 2002 he should have some 3 yr old daughters by now.  semen available in '03 calves in '04, bred in '05 calved first time in '06.  2nd calf crop should be producing calves this spring.  I would think somebody would have some, especially since he is free of defects and has a moderately attractive maternal pedigree.  Please keep yours ears open for reports.  I have talked with numerous people in IA and have not heard of any, sans 1 yearling heifer I sold in 06 that calved this february.  She appears to be making a decent cow, although her calf was pulled backwards  and got off to a rough start.  moderate framed, good ribbed, relativley easy fleshing cow as 2 yr old

The only real thing I've heard is that some just don't get off to as quick of a start as some calves. I really haven't seen many of his females in sales yet.

He sold in Dever in Jan. of 2003, according to my SEK catalog he was new in 2004, so I don't know if he didn't produce that 1st year or if maybe he just sold through Lautner.  Call Fred DeRouchey he was out of a very productive DCC cow, if anyone kept calves out of him it would be Fred.
