Who would be the best angus bull to use for a shorty first calver that will keep some style and show ring quality?  Any suggestions would be well appriciated.  Thanks.

Juneau.

They are hairy, stylish and small when they are born and they only get better.

O C C Legend 616L is my first pick. Juneau and Northern Improvement are the other two I'd say are "clubby" Angus. Legend just makes them flat nice and functional.

If you want pretty go with NOrthern Improvement. OCC Legend will give you broody and very maternal looking females. Traveler T510 also does that. The prettier calves come from Northern Improvement. We have used all three but the best luck I have had was NI. They also had hair believe it or not.

If you're gonna go with something a little more attractive looking, why not BC Matrix? He's a freaky fronted bull that balances up real nice. His support photos are showing some dang nice females that'd be competitive.

We like our BC Lookout's!  They come easy, 72 to 81 lbs this year out of first calf heifers.  They have a cool look and really look like they will be great cattle.  Genex carries him.

Has Aberdeen totally fallen off the radar, he looks to me like he would throw alot of style. I was really high on him when he first came out, but was going to wait to see how the first calf crop looked. Now you don't hear anything at all about him. Anybody use him or seen any calves, I would think there should be some on the ground by now.

OCC Next Step. They have a much better front than OCC Legend. I went of a recommendation last year to use Next Step and I am glad I did.

How about a Red Angus I wouldnt even have a clue to which one to use but with the ASA promoting the Durham Red deal thats the direction I would look at going toward.

That is what I was going to say! Not sure if I would use him on those small frme cows but he did a super job on our larger cattle.

I have used some of brylors bulls....nice calves. Might want to  hold off on those for now.

I like my TC Freedoms. Used on angus and crossbred heifers with no problem. Born small, grow like crazy, lots of style, hair and do-ability.

You might check out the list of AM cattle IF THAT IS A CONCERN OF YOURS.  If not, do not waste your time. You can find it on the Angus assoc website.
There is also a list of MB carriers in the red angus breed listed on their website, again, IF THAT IS A CONCERN OF YOURS.
Info on each can also be found on the respectives breeds website.

Good luck. Isn't breeding season fun!!
