In Oklahoma steers only have to be half bood angus to show as an angus, so depending on where your located he might be "an angus".

Does the steer need to be registered angus? Or just be able to classify as an angus?

yeah it is the sad truth...when we go thru the sift i have seen angus claves with papers not classify and 1/4 angus calves get in...its crazy

Bush league???  Come on down and see if you can make the team in the bush league then...

Actually, requiring steers to be registered was killing the Angus steer show.  The true pb's couldn't compete outside of their breed, often even at local levels, so nobody wanted to feed 'em.  The first answer was a CAB division, which was immediately many times as big as the pb division.  The pb division shrunk to almost nothing, and OYE and TSF eventually told the state Angus association (whose responsibility it is to decide on the requirements for their breed and to classify the steers) that they needed to go to a single division - the result is where we are now, with a nice sized and very competitive Angus steer division, and at least a fighting chance that a steer from the Angus division could actually win Grand.

Sounds like a big crossbred show to me.  Do they have a half herford division too?
