Any word yet on their sale or any of the other shorthorn sales that have taken place so far this weekend?

Cates had their usual great sale, averaging $12,878 on 48 lots.  Standing room only.  The Cates family deserve a lot of credit for all they have done for the Shorthorn breed.

The factory rose to the occasion again. Sometimes folks get lost in the awe of Cates" shorthorn cattle and don't take the time to get to know the family. You have to hire or aquire "help" to put on a sale, but to see the owners every year actually "working" and gettin dirty proves to me that unlike some uppity big time owners, they command respect that is more than deserving. They treat people the same way. I have thanked that family for their hospitality and friendship many times over. I was at the sale for the first time in five years and you would have thought it had been a lifetime.I want to  say thanks for the SP folks who came up to me and introduced themselves. The only way some of them would have known me was through my friendship with my traveling companion of Mr. Robert Raisback of Hi View shorthorns. We had a lot of fun and seen alot of folks that we hadn't seen in years. It made my 2 days worth while to see Mr. Raisback have a twinkle in his eye, when all of the kind words were spoken from the Cates family along with Bill Rasor,Bruce Brooks,John Sullivan,The Hogles and the countless others who came up and wanted to meet "Bob".We had a lot of fun and took some nice cattle back to Wisconsin.

Clanton's bought one of the heifers with Abertee's breeding on bottom side. NOT necessarily a show heifer, but potential lethal cow family.
