Clubby Gossip
uncategorized

I'm not a big fan of this clubby gossip stuff, but I've been requested by many to do it, so here it is......

Here is some of what I've heard this spring.  I wrote a column a week or two ago, but I just realized that it didn't get posted for some reason.  I'll try to remember some of the conversations I've had the past few weeks.

This is going to be a random listing as I think of topics.  I'm by no means going to put together a "Top 10 list" or anything, because all bulls work better on certain body types.  Take that into consideration before you make your mating decisions this spring.  Feel free to call us if you have questions...that's how we've stayed in business...by being honest to help you make the best calves that you've ever raised.

Don Wilks, WI, breeder of Apollo, says his Apollo calves have been 70-80# , they look great & he's going to use him heavier this year.  Some other satisfied customers are Brad White & Murt & Russ Harkema, IA...Chris Effling, SD, Steve Eisch, WI, Stallman, MD & Garwood, NE.  This TH & PHA free bull is making them stout, hairy & tight throated.  He'll even power up frail Angus or Jersey cows.

Echo & Recoil are gaining steam.  These calves are COMPLETE.  Goldmember is making great females and works as a heifer bull for many.

Way Cool, Tyson & DCC Smokin Joe are popular Ali sons. The Ringer too & Rocky Balboa.  I think some of these Ali sons had some bigger calves this spring due to the harsh winter.  There were some big Ali calves around the country too & that's never happened (or rarely) before.

Jigsaw calves are getting good reports.

Dirty Hairy is perhaps one of the most exciting bulls right now for IMPROVING front ends & keeping them stout and HAIRY.  Make sure you order early on Dirty Hairy as demand will surely outweigh supply this spring.

Heat Wave 1 & 6 are going to be hard to get this spring.  Be prepared for that.  Do you really think there's a difference between any of them?  Go ahead and order 2 & 5 without feeling bad.  Yes, 6 has the best photo, but they are all the same (the clones that is)  I'm a Star Wars guy, and I like to say "Attack of the Clones".  Come on Phil...you don't even have to pay me commission if you do that ad.  ha-ha.joking.

Don't plan on getting any Hairy Bear in the near future.  I've don't know what took so long for this bull to get hot.  He was a good one.

My Turn is gaining steam.  Hannibal semen is limited. Order this spring before his price increase.  Manchild is working on the right cows well.

Doctor Who is still looking good & is a solid choice.  Texas hold Em sure works good on the right ones.

Pay attention to Something Different!  Super cool fronted.

Q-Dog calves are creating a buzz.  Naughty Pine too.  Smooth Sailing too.  Invincible too.  Carnac too.  Shockwave too.  Warrant too.  Polygraph too. Blockbuster too. Hollywood too.  Hillbilly Deluxe too.  I'm sure I'm missing a couple Heat Wave sons.  Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone if I'm leaving an obvious one out.  I'm not looking at my last Livestock Plus or Show circuit or Nat. Lv. Ex. now either.

Use Majors Money Man, HAA New LEvel or GVC Nobleman or GVC Special Delivery as an Ali outcross or good heifer bulls in general.  Gigolo Joe too.  He's been the hottest bull up in Canada.

If Special Delivery calves look as good as he does, he'll be one of the hottest bulls available.  He's homo blk, homo pld & homo solid patterned now as confirmed by Garwood & DeJong.  Sound structured, complete is what you get.

Shiver is one of the hottest clubby heifer bulls this spring.  Total Solution too.

I sure appreciate the 2-page Sun Seeker spread ad that I saw in one or more of those clubby mags.

I hear the Interstate calves look really good.  I like Tin Man & Orange Crush too.

New bulls Point Taken & Cattlelac Jack & Eye Candy & Mayhem will be in demand.  Static X too.

That's it for now.

Simmental news

I heard the national Simmental meetings at the University of Illinois were awesome.  Wish I could have been there.  Too busy selling semen these days.  Sorry I missed out breeders.

I'm by no means a text message fan, but here's 2 words 4 u!  Star Power.  Dare I say he might be hotter than Dream On?

Dream Catcher?  Might he be better than Star Power?  What a conflict for 2 great baldy bulls.  Great new ad on him in the April Show Circuit.  Great time to be a Simmy breeder.

JS Burning Up. Another great baldy.  JS, IA says they are the best calves they've ever had.  Out of a great cow!

ACC1 Hustler. The Dream On outcross choice.

Westfall Voyager.  Calf reports are good.  Adding guts & soundness in a complete package.

LECC Perfect Timing. Calf reports are good.  Adding guts, long fronts, stature, stoutness & soundness.

SAS All Star.  His progeny were well received at the IL trials. MGS of SAS Sweet Meat, the most popular yearling bull.  Dirty Dog is now freezing semen too.

STF Savvy. Denver champ.  Gary Staley says the progeny are stouter & better than he expected!

SHS Navigator & Enticer.  Working on Dream On's with extra style.

SVF Duracell, the full brother to In Dew Time who many said is stouter & better.

SVF Motown.  A great heifer bull & Dream On outcross.  Adds guts & style with soundness.

Triple c Positive Power.  Adds substance.  Majic Man.  Adds it all. Main Event.  The Invasion son you need to try.  Way better than his sire & I mean it, seriously.

LS/NF Bring It On.  The red power bull of choice.

LRS Master Design.  The outcross bull to use.

RR Warehouse.  How can you go wrong?  Look what he's produced.

1/2 blood bull. WSJ Encore.  He is awesome!!  Rubys Throwdown looks good too. Triple c Explorer too.

-These are a few of my faves!

This season concentrate on good structure, maternal & muscle.  Produce some cattle that look good again!  Aren't you getting tired of using the hype with disappointing results?  If you are like most of the general public, the answer is YES!  Thanks for all you real-world producers in cattle country for supporting Cattle Visions.  I'm glad you realize that we are interested in making you more money by producing progeny that will sell for higher dollars at your production sales because they are sound & thick.

Thanks to America for making Silveiras El Capitan the popular choice this spring.  This bull should breed as good as he & his sisters look, which should be exciting for all.  I hope he produces enough semen to keep up with demand.  FYI---I'm going to use him on some of my Simmy & Limi heifers.  My 2T22 calves look great off them, but I get 55-65# calves and I'm certain El Capitan will be fine for me in that respect this next year.

BC Lookout.  Thanks to all for all the good reports.  We haven't had any complaints.  I hope they grow out for you & they should if you used him on your bigger framed heifers.  I know the phenotype is there!

TC Grid Topper.  Talking to Craig Conover today, he said to not quote him word for word, but he THOUGHT the Grid Toppers averaged over $5000 for Stepladder Angus, NE.  G.T. daughters are awesome as many are witnessing and we predicted.  I don't know if there's a more consistent producing sire of high quality progeny.  Mill Coulee Farms, WI has a great GT son that they are keeping for a herd bull.  MArda Farms, WI has some super ones too.  Steele's, IA top selling bull was a GT.  Lienemann, NE had a GT at the top at Midland for feed conversion.  The success stories could fill a page.  His heifers will win some shows this year too!

Koupals Balancer.  Yes, finally.....now you know who he is.  He is the best heifer & spread bull in the breed.  I guess all we needed to do was have $5000 worth of advertising in the Angus Journal for you to recognize that. (ha-ha)  Balancer is the sire of the #1 bull at the ND Bull Test for TNT Angus, ND.  He also sired the #6 indexing bull at the MIDLAND bull test, MT for Lienemann, NE.  Genex bought a son at Koupal's.  The time is now to use Balancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Make your cattle good again.  Seriously, order him now!  Use him on heifers and cows.  The maternal, depth, udders & fleshing ability are all excellent, coupled with great growth.

SS Traveler 2T22.  He's getting hot.  Check out his goood, new photo in the April Angus Journal ad.  Thanks for that Danny Bradshaw, IA.  Can you find a better bull for the price?  I don't think so.  You'll be pleasantly surprised with the high quality and style in these calves.  You don't ever have to check heifers at night if you use him or his super, legendary sire, T510.

Look up these distinctive appearing sires.....RDD Overload, MF Destroyer, LaGrand Antidote, PVF New Horizon, LaGrand Sundance, Plainview Big Rig, Gambles Jaguar, OCC Juneau, Duff New Edition, & Boyd On Target.  Sankey's Lazer, 2008 NWSS Champion Bull, semen is now available too.

We've got great carcass bulls too.  BR Ambush 28, BR Genesis, Bear Mtn Owyhee, T510, Corona, Riverbend Mile High, Gardens Prime Star, EXAR New Look, Oneils Expedition, Connealy Reflection, etc.  Check out our new Owyhee son from the Berg sale, SD.  Semen available soon.

Semen also available now on what Kelly Schaff says might be the best 004 son he's ever produced, SAV Efficiency.  We expect better maternal on him than Net Worth with the same muscle expression.  WOW!

Show persons... check out Gambles Dividing Line for your chance to use a high quality heifer bull.  BEB Juneau & Northern Improvement too as you know.

-Thanks again for your support!  -Lance

Sounds like he never met a bull he did'nt like. ;)

I was all ears until I saw what he compared Dream Catcher to Star Power. ::)

Dream catcher is WAAAAYYYYY better now as a mature bull than before as a young one.  We liked him as a young bull for his completeness, but were not quite sure he was stout enough for us, but after seeing him this spring as a mature bull like him alot more.  The dream catchers sold quite well for his first calf crop also so he has already done something star power has yet to do.

I have heard a few people down talk him, I thought the  bullcalf standing in DC stall in Denver was very nice.
