I sent some in to SEK  and they weren't that close but I had had it with my Vets ,and so far looks good, if any thing changes I will let you know ....Plan on using it this breeding season so that I hve more of an idea of what is happening .....It looks like to me it is the trend of the future for guys raising clubby and reg. cattle ......There has been some big wrecks in this country with guys preging and then putting lutalyze in open cows , no wonder they encourage owners to market there opens quickly .....One old cattle trader back here says that preg checking made him a millionaire or more over the years .....

We use the Biopryn blood preg test and love it.  They say 29 days on that one.  We use it for all of our fall preg test because I can do it on a sunday when I have time to get the cows threw the chute, mail it monday and have the results wednesday for about $3.00.

We, too, do the blood testing for pregnancy.  It's worked well for us without a mistake so far.  However, I think this one looks easier than drawing & shipping those tubes for about the same price.

This test measures progesterone (designed to measure progesterone in milk) - it is only useful btwn 18 and 22 days post insemination. The company has not been willing to send me any literature to validate their statements re sensitivity and specificity (which always makes me wonder about their numbers...) it is NOT a test I would based any decisions on...it is NOT the same as BioPryn

BioPryn is a different test - it measures pregnancy Specific Protein B (PSPB) which is is produced by the placenta and can be very useful esp in yearling heifers and cows 90 days after calving

Thanks for the input.  I did order some.  I plan on using it as a trial with BioPryn.  No decisions will be made on my end until I get the results from the blood tests or if I see one of my cows actually in standing heat.

Depends.  I run alot of old show heifers.  They're just too lazy to be good markers.  You add in the heat of summer and that can stop the riding in its tracks.

I forget that not everyone has a gomer running around.

It just seems that with any more than ten head it would be much easier to make sure you have something with a sex drive around for a few days rather than drawing blood on everything, sending it in, paying the fee, and waiting for the results.

The closest thing that I have to a gomer is if I have an early bull calf.  Those little guys can really mark like crazy when they get some age to them. 

I am a paranoid soul by nature.  Even if I haven't seen anything for two cycles I get nervous if I see some signs that they are coming in.  It's usually just them saying hi!  It's more of a peace of mind thing with me.

So I've now tried this product and I won't be using it again.  I did this test at the recommended times and the result was two open cows.  The vet was out today and I had her sonogram both of the so-called open cows.  She then told me they were bred and showed me the sonogram. 

I had a feeling that the tests were wrong.  I found these two in a great standing heat and had a hard time believing that neither one of them took.  I knew the semen wasn't bad as I've had conception with some straws in the same cane.  Sure am glad I didn't stick a CIDR in them and start the sync process!  Just thought I would share.
