We were semen testing our sale bulls today and we had a couple families show up to look through the bulls. I took a few minutes to go with one fellow and his son through the bulls. While we were in the bull pen, his cell phone rang, and I noticed he got quite serious when he answered it. After he hung up, he said " That is all I need right now. That was CFIA ( Canadian Food and Inspection Agency) and they are coming to do an audit on my herd and feedlot to see if I have correctly tagged my cattle with CCIA tags." He then told me that he had over 1500 cattle in the feedlot as well as over 300 cows, and that they want to inspect all these cattle and to see his records. He said that they had been on his case before now, wanting him to get a better computer program to keep his records on, as well as purchase a scanner which would read the tags as they went through the chute, and he was refusing to do this.  I was feeling very sorry for him, as he was very rattled about this.

We continued to look at bulls, and I could still tell that he was bothered by the phone call, even though an hour had passed. About the time we ended looking at the bulls, his cell phone rang again. Shortly after he answered it, he started swearing and calling the person on the phone some very nasty names. When he ended the call, he said " I am really going to have to do some serious thinking to get back at that guy"  It turns out it was a April Fool's joke, as a friend of his had called the local CFIA office and actually got them to make the call as if it was real.  I have seen lots of people who were the victim of an April Fool's joke, but this has to be amongst the best.

Our Sheriff had the dispatcher call me at 2:30 in the morning and tell me that my cows are on the road, this is the second time he has gotten me on this!  But, to be fair, I unloaded all of my old tractor tires, old truck tires, ect at the end of his driveway. One other time I put it on the radio that it was his 60th birthday, he had just turned 40 a couple weeks before.
