I would say that there are some pretty good critters in this pedigree. His sire was Brentwood Impression who was a Dividend's Impact out of a good Elbee cow sired by Improver 3rd himself. The Brentwood herd of Roger Applegate's was a real good set of cattle. The dam of the Elbee Buttercup cow was a female named Troubadour Buttercup 2nd. This cow is some very good Saskatchewan and Alberta beef bloodlines. These genetics would be very popular today if they were available now. The Spartan herd shown in the background was from the Saskatoon, SK area, and it was way ahead of it's time. There were some super powerful cattle around here in that era, and I wish we had been smart enough to save some of these genetics.
The dam of Shiloh, is a cow from Dale Wernicke's good Wernacres herd, and she was an Astronaut daughter. Astronaut gets my vote as the all time best breeding son of Deerpark Dividend. The grand dam of Shiloh is a Kenmar cow from Harvey Fulton's in Manitoba. The Kenmar herd is responsible for starting several of the great cow lines in the breed even today, such as the Myrtles, Minnie's, Lily's and Mayflowers, along with several others. The grand dam is sired by Four Point Pride 5H who was a son of Four Point Leader, a bull that would be incredibly popular if he was alive today.
So, I would say that this Shiloh bull has a pedigree stacked full of very good working cattle, with some form and function. They may not have enough gas to produce some super show stoppers, but if you are wanting to produce some cattle with soundness, fleshing ability and overall volume, this may be a very good find. With this pedigree, I am expecting it could be worth some money for someone to flush with. I will start the bidding at $70 per dose ( providing it is good quality semen.. I have had some from that era, that was produced by some US studs that was basically dishwater).
As for calving ease, I would say the pedigree should read as relatively easy calving, but when I see his actual BW of 103, I would say use some caution, until you know more about him.
Also, this pedigree is TH and PHA free, if it is correct and I expect it is 100% correct.
