I'd happily take both of these bulls over the bulls in the Star Power / Black Max matchup.

Agreed. I think 600U is arguably one of the most influential bulls in the Simmental breed.

Btw, do you have any Sundance Kid calves yet?

It is hard to find a solid producing Simmental cow without having 600U somewhere on the paper.

I haven't been overly impressed with the Sundance Kid calves.  Several complete duds.  The bull calves seem to have a lot of growth to them.  The heifers aren't much to look at.

One common factor amongst all of them, some of the worst front ends you have ever seen.  Just complete messes.

I was hoping he would be a nice option in the future for a red bull, but I dont think he is much of an answer.  After seeing some of the Grindstone Creek heifers, Mr. Amigo is going to get a chance on some of the falls.

Clubby vs. Simmental  ;D  600U for me thanks.

You got it exactly right.  This is the SIMMENTAL bracket and in my opinion the influence of 734 on the breed and in the industry (outside of clubbies) is fairly minuscule in comparison to 600U.  600U is one of the bulls that truly helped to reshape the breed to what it is today and give it true relevance within the industry.

That being said I could not believe that 600U just barely beat Built Right in votes and I fully expect 734 to obliterate him here.

I agree with all that has been posted.    600U gets my vote, afer all this is the Simmental bracket.

I usually don't weigh in on many topics on here but I am curious from my experiances my 600 U (i've had a couple) daughters have been very hard keeping.  If they see a feed bucket they were always knocking you over to get all the feed and were usually thin.  I now have 3 meyer daughters and 1 granddaughter and they are easier keepers and raise semaliar sized calves to the 600 U in my purebred group.  Don't get me wrong IMO both of these bull have done a tremendous amount of good for the Simmental business and in the Cattle Industry i'm just trying to see what other people experiances have been.

Maybe ECC is the only one who actually had cattle out of 600U? Incredibly over rated to me.

600U....too large framed, too hard doing, not always sound on the the back wheels.

My feeling as to why 600U was so influential in the breed is strictly due to timing; he was one of the first really accepted black bulls out there during the color change of the breed....consequently, he was heavily used.  Sure he had some good ones, but he got bred to some great cows.
