I'm sure the younger generation will vote for N. Improvement. He has done well for calving ease and sired some good heifers when mated properly. But, the influence Anchor has had ,not only on Angus but on hybrids from Sims and Maines is unmatched. I would much rather have glory in my cows than the glitz you get from Northern Improvement.

I'm in that younger generation, and I, for one, don't really care for NI.  I love Anchor females, especially when mated on those good PB and 1/2 blood Simmis.  They make some dandy cows.

Whoa! NI may have a place, but Anchor can smoke him all day long in my books. My very best, top female on this place is a direct daughter of him. She calved a daughter that is a spitting image of her mama and grandsire. Muscle, stoutness, tons of rib, and respectable balance. Plus, as has been discussed elsewhere, they are both extremely gentle. Same goes for their calves. Anchor gets my vote!

I couldn't agree more with MYT,  I would love to have a pasture full of anchor females.  My best cow is an anchor daughter and 2 of my top cows are anchor granddaughters.

As the judge who slapped her grand champion cow/calf said, "If you had 1,000 more just like her, you would be doin' really well." Wished I had 1000 carbon copies.  ;D
