Best squeeze chutes, why?

+1 on the Formost.  I love mine too and like RW said it's very user friendly.  Lots of options to choose from if you order one (like type of headgate).  I'm also a fan of Preifert.  The vet clinic where I used to work was a Priefert dealer, so I got to use several chutes and systems.  I always look for head knockers and shin bangers on the sides of squeeze chutes and try to avoid those brands. (lol)

I have two Preifert chutes & REALLY like em. The two I have are exactly the same...XL with the scissor tail gate & a palp cage. It's a user friendly chute for workIng cattle...not as great for clipping cattle. If you happen to plan on using the same chute for clipping sale cattle, etc. I recommend you take that into consideration.

It's been a while since i've used one, but I do think the Foremost is worth looking at. I'm not sure how they compare price-wise with the Preifert, but I don't think they're one of the more economical brands on the market. The two brands I've used more are WW & Powder River, and both of them have handles that are head-knockers.

+1 on the Pearson self catch manual.  I have used about every kind of chute under the sun as I a.i. several thousand cows every year for numerous operations.  The Pearson delivers in all areas- ease of use, economics, safety, workmanship and materials.  It is also very easy to work lots of cattle by yourself with this chute.  If you have a crew helping work several hundred per day, I would recommend a Silencer hydraulic or Parasal hydraulic but none of the hydraulic models are very handy if you are working cattle by yourself.

We have a silencer, as do many feedlot and places that work a lot of cattle. We really like it, the best feature is you can contact the company and they will somewhat build it to your specs.

If money is no object, the Silencers or Daniels Manufacturing chutes are the way to go.  Also assuming money is no object, the Moly hydraulic crowd tub, with the hydraulic double alley to hydraulic single alley is the way to go.

Last time I priced them earlier in the year before breeding season Preifert was $3,200 and Formost was $5,250 with all the specials and what not everyone had going on. Both portable with head table and squeeze. Is the Formost worth that much more? All my local vets pull a Formost I know but do have a local dealer of Preifert who is great to work with and have all the add on stuff right there.

I do like my Stronghold chute for clipping/starting calf/sorting out of but no squeeze and hard to move. And headgate when wet is not safe......

We just bought our 4th WW in my life time so I guess we like them pretty well and run lots of stockers through it. Works great on horned cattle and transports easily if you have the need. Definitely a head knocker though.

My has a Palco. The best non hydraulic chute I've seen. Tall enough to not bang your head on, squeezes top and bottom, ability to operate head gate from behind.

Riverrode in IL builds a really nice chute...and they also have a squeeze chute.  Price one out...probably a lot cheaper than the one's mentioned here already!

Had a priefert for years really like it.  Use it in multiple ways not great for clipping but have used it for everything else with no problems easy to use.  Have done c-sections, et work, ai and everything else u can imagine think palpation cage is a must though and have not seen anything better especially for the price and my local dealer

Just bought a Silencer. We have a large cowherd and a bull development facility. The Silencer was the best fit.

for a mobile, economical chute, you can't beat a Priefert.  We still have one at the old pens that is 34 years old and has averaged having 400+ head worked through it every year and all we have ever had replaced were the locks, which have a lifetime guarantee, just call a dealer and tell them you need new ones.  We have powder river and WW as well and I personally like neither brand or any of the 3 types that we have nearly as much as the priefert.
